Sorry if I broke protocol.
I suck at formalities. They always make me feel awkward. I didn't intend to "splash" into a private space. Thx for the welcome. Nasdarovje!
Just went sub-lightspeed to drop off the B'Day gift for ~H~. And as much as I would love to spend more time in this amazing place, I'm afraid I'll have to warp out again. These are busy times, and my ship and crew are needed elsewhere. But beware: Sometimes they come back. ;)
But before I go, I would like to leave a little present for you, from my personal archive. I'm not sure, though, if it will please or torture you. *sinister chuckling*
PIRRRATEKITTENZ?!?!?!?!?!
P.S.: Thx to 1eyedchiken for "pointing" me towards YouTube's "cat-corner".
Pfftt...
Private space?? No such thing. Err ... at least not here. I thought you were just fine, Tia ... like I said, the bearing of
And formalities?? Pshaw! I defy formalities!alcoholhappiness is ALWAYS appreciated and welcomed here. Thanks for the song! It kind of reminds me of Sigrid's Viking Metal ... but it's Pirate Metal. I totally approve.
I do take issue with the evil cats...the poor things! They were manipulated and tricked into looking so dastardly! They can't help flash glare and red eye!!!
Come back soon, Tia!

Afterthought.
I had a good laugh about most of the pics in this vid. Especially since I know how a freshly bathed Persian looks.....PISSED! And believe me, I love cats.
But the one with the red eyes? Ugh, no laughter there. I really hope they photoshopped this one.
Buuut, red eyes can be very seductive.
No, I'm not XWP obsessed. It just looks this way. Really. I swear.
(Btw, the pictures are from Mary D's fantastic AUSXIP site. Just in case someone is interested.)
I just returned ...
From seeing Trojan Women by Euripides at the uni I teach at.
a few things.
1) The set was gorgeous
2) The lights were gorgeous
3) any time an actor mentions the lights/set above the acting, it's a warning sign.

not exactly light entertainment
No ... it's not...
In fact it was 2.5 hours of wailing and crying, which began with staged rape and overt brutality. It truly bordered on Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty ... which would have been awful, but interesting! But then ... the wailing and crying took hold, and never seemed to let go.
Until Helen came onstage in the middle of act 2 ... then it was better for approximately 15 minutes.
I have not seen this movie with Dame Redgrave and Lady Katharine! And had I not just seen the play, I'd want to watch it. As it is, I'll have to wait....

elusive sleep
I haven't been sleeping well lately. I wake up in the wee hours (around 4 AM) and can't get back to sleep. Finally, I doze back off and fall into a deep sleep. Unfortunately, I have a giant gaggle (?) of wild turkeys that have been coming into the yard, on my porch, and gobbling and pecking--waking me out of my fabulous, desperately needed, deep sleep. Here is a pic of one of the hens. Do you have this problem?
From Mackers, to you...
Me thought I heard a voice cry 'sleep no more'
Macbeth doth murder sleep, the innocent sleep
Sleep that knits up the raveled sleeve of care,
The death of each day's life, sore labors bath
Balme of hurt minds, great nature's second course
Chief Nourisher in Life's feast!
Still it cried, 'sleep no more' to all the house
Glamis hath murdered sleep, and therefore
Cawdor shall sleep no more, Macbeth shall sleep
no more!

I had turkey problems in Brookline ,MA, which for those of you unfamiliar, is literally a mile or so from downtown Boston. Pre-cellphone picture days, it was hard to prove. My friend in Salisbury has counted up to 32 in his yard...
Kinda Hitchcockian (it is so a word)....
It SO is!

your avatar above ^ isn't exactly the Jolly Green Giant ... besides, it was a term of endearment, not a pejorative statement about your height. Four/Five year olds are not meant to be ginormous!

I think today ...
is a Garrison Keillor day ...
This man is the definition of beautiful simplicity.
It was a green summer day like what a child would draw, a crayon day with a few white cumulus children's clouds, and the sun with yellow radiance lines sticking out. It was a day when after breakfast Dad did not go out to do chores but sat down at the upright piano and played by heart O dusky maiden of the moors, my heart you do beguile—O do not hasten to your chores but stay with me awhile. There was one day when he did that and this is that day again. The day after she was begotten.
I feel there is an angel inside of me, she'd say,

I concur...
Some Keillor quotes:
I believe at looking reality straight in the eye and denying it.
Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but getting what you have, which once you have got it you may be smart enough to see is what you would have wanted had you known.
It's a shallow life that doesn't give a person a few scars.
A girl in a bikini is like a loaded pistol on your coffee table. There's nothing wrong with them, but it's hard to stop thinking about it.
God writes a lot of comedy...the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny.
A Little Behind...
I hope to catch up later, but the drama three days ago and the last two work days have made it difficult to find time to play.
Oh...and it seems I have an addiction to these:

Mmmmm....
smelly cheese! How I love it.
My standard favorite is this:
goat cheese
honey
walnuts
over water crackers, philo dough, rosemary bread (as shown above)...other carb-tastic delights ...
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....I'm hungry.
I feel there is an angel inside of me, she'd say,

Mmmmm...Indeed!
Another cheese lover here!
:-)
Hmmm...
Eating tantalizing food can be a very sensual experience, but as much as I love fresh sweet corn, I have to disagree with Garrison Keillor when he says...“Sex is good, but not as good as fresh, sweet corn.”
;-)
well

We dont know about his love life. I had one or two experiences that make sweet corn sound like a faaarr better choice...

and in more serious note: the pope and condoms in Africa.
The Pope has made a statement during his trip to Africa asserting that condoms exacerbate the problem of HIV/AIDS. The Catholic church have made made similar statements in Africa in multiple occasions, generally in French, English and Swahili, and using radio to broadcast these messages. In this way, they ensure at almost total coverage.
For first time, the Lancet, one of the most prestigious publication on Medicine, lashed out on the Pope's statement.
irresponsible Pope’s commentsThe Pope
It doesn't surprise me that the Pope would misunderstand the tenets of science. After all he doesn't take his stance based on the scientific method, he is busying getting his facts from "God" Nor does it surprise me that we would say something that could begin an ethnic cleasning epidemic because of his mistatements. Shame on the cardinals for voting in a member of the Nazi youth.
I guess he didn't get the memo that he is a "placeholder" pope and it might serve him best to speak less.
it is interesting
I am alive ...
But only just ...
I'm working on a metaphor relating exhaustion to the undead (re: my status) ... Need some clever wording, I think ...
however, the zombie that wrestled me for my brain took a hefty chunk out of it, which may have included my ability toward phrasology. Ah well. At least the vampire didn't bite down ALL the way ...

If you have to be a zombie...
..perhaps you could be a cool Japanese zombie from the turn of a previous century?
Welcome back, wayward one...
Uhm...
You mean being a Zombie Pirate isn't enough? I have to multiply and become Japanese?

Do I need disclaimers?
p.s. cool image.
Step back, small fry ...
my point being that I thought being one zombie was bad enough ... but to multiply into more?? rough. And Japanese is a hard language to learn. Especially when half of your brain is missing ....

AH!
He totally WOULD do something like that...Laughing my half-brained pirate ass off. Literally.
