Cashmere Mafia ratings - BIG CONCERNI know that a lot of people are frustrated with Caitlin's storyline and screen time this week. However, I find the rating of this show more of a concern than the direction Caitlin/Alicia relationship is heading. CM has lost half of its audience since the premiere (10.72 million to 5.58 million) and it seems that it will stay at that figure, if not lower. I'm afraid that with so much competition around, there won't be an order of another season after the writers' strike is over.

It Felt Like...
Cashmere Mafia
It's Not that Great a Show...
...and while sometimes "not that great" shows do go on for years (*cough* JAG *cough*), usually they get cancelled. And even though Caitlin/Alicia are two of only a handful of lesbians on TV, I don't know how long I, personally, can suffer through it. And why should we expect the rest of America to do that? What's their incentive?

Obsessive? Me? Never!
I want more seasons!
Despite the disappearing lesbian couple, I really want to see more of Cashmere Mafia, it's a great, simple show with gorgeous woman, I've loved Lucy Liu and Frances O'Connor for ages so seeing them on my TV screen each week is just great.
There's precious little on TV that I actually watch, I can't stand Lost or Heroes or shows of the same ilk with huge casts that you don't care a whiff about.
So it's unoriginal? Who cares, it's my eye candy and I love it. I hoped they get another chance.
I actually
tuned into the show cause of the article i read here and how Sarah was announcing it, it seemed like it might of worked. I saw the first e.p i loved it and it made me reconsider my career choice from computer system engineer to business administration (really wanted to pursue this career choice but never got motivated until I saw the show and the vlog) that and seeing sarahs and lori's comments about it (which I mostly agreed with) Second episode was nice, the third could of gone better but the fourth....it's like they can't come up with anything better to write.
For one I agree they should of made their first meeting maybe at the gym or on tuesday nights rather than just having to stop their lives just to meet up (unbelievable cause not even I or any business person, stop just to talk with my friends unless we're debating or it's really really important ....two the julie character does not have to be so stupid (I want strong female characters, not weak women that need men in their lives in order to survive or look perfect cause I was raised by a single parent; being my mother and she has done a magnificent job if I do say so). She should of been concetrating on her job and maintaining her daughter in check (female looks distraught) and from the beginning should of gotten rid of the husband cause after a while watching her story line (like 20-25 mins of the show) becomes unberable. Zoe, I like zoe and her storyline with the underling, I just wish the writers wouldn't have to rub her high lifestyle with her kids all over the place..I mean come the F**k on those kids need to go to public school and smell reality bitting them in the huha. Mia....at least down her wardrobe to some blacks, blues, grays, and reds, it's a fruking business company not a runway show on worst things to wear to the office.
Caitlin......good storyline gone to waste. What the writters needed to do was divide all the storylines seperately like mia gets 10 min Zoe gets 10 min, and so do the rest of the characters there 40 mins divided equally and the last freaking 3-5 should be either closings or group shots cause Caitlin has gotten maybe five to ten minutes of her story as well as dialogue in the last four episodes. Than the relationship with Alicia should of started a bit slower or maybe keep it at that pace and show them going out on a date or hanging out in each others place just getting to know each other.
I.E Caitlin sitting on couch wearing a large man work/t shirt or sweater while regarding Alicia: Are you serious?
Alicia with a matching workout suit gazing at Caitlins eyes: No, they still don't know and I don't think they ever will
Caitlin smiling: So you're telling me that you still sleep with knight lights and your parents aren't aware of this?
Alicia hiding her face in her hands: Too many 'nightmare on elm streets' ...I mostly blame it all on my brother for making me watch halloween h2o but thank him for terminator.
or something along those lines but with cooler and cute dialogue. Get rid of the whole pregnant crap cause it's been done.....Alicia's friends shouldn't of been introduced at least until after Alicia had met Caitlins friends.....If she had met the guy she should of met him on different terms and decided right there and than if she wanted to pursue the arse. If not they should of continued on to meeting their perspective families (uncomfortable episode and hilarity could of ensued in both homes) If so than she should of gone on a date with him and compare both Alicia to the arse and if she's happier with the arse than there.. end of the lesbian storyline if not there could of been either a scene where she makes Alicia fall for her really really hard or a battle of the sexes and you could guess what Alicia could do (Business Mortal Kombat anyone?) and the Alicia character could be strong, quirky, cute and fun.....they make her out to be insecure which is ok but to an extent.
I mean this storyline has so many possibilities and it doesn't have to be annoying (questioning sexuality was so 1999 just do like SON and say 'nope not gonna label myself') It can be heterosexual friendly and a clear representative of lesbians out there(kissing, making out, sex included). It's just very dissapointing what they have done to the show.
If by any chance it does get picked up for a second season (doubt it) they should really think of more than ten ways to make this show not seem like sex in the city. If it doesn't than well at least there was something and writers can learn from this redoncolous writing and create well written characters in the future (Lesbian, Gay but mostly Lesbian)
wow...just needed to vent badly sorry.

Cute little Caitlin/Alicia dialogue you had going, develop it further. I am a writer I'd be interested in communicating with u about transposing it into a short script.
As far as CM, I honestly believe that it was the promise of a lesbian storyline for one of the main characters that caused the high pilot ratings.
I mean ABC built it up so much, that the initial meeting of Caitlin and Alicia, or the kiss was is nearly every promo and as much as I am against the L Word they do know how to pander to the prurient [sp] curiosity of heterosexual viewers. It first appeared as if CM was going to do the same but after the 2nd episode they failed miserably. I am even doubtful at this point that the show will even get picked up for more episodes, and I'm not sure I want it to be if we get more of the same.
A major reality check is that it's amazing that the character of Caitlin Dowd is modeled after Sally Susman head of Estee Lauder cosmetics, it does young women a dis-service to think that they too can rise in the business world and still be airheads and not know the basics of who they are. That's what men want us to think.
