This supports something I've believed for a long time. I commented just yesterday on this in the Hostility...forum. Now I have something to back me up
I believe it's genetic. And scientists are starting to prove that. Being bi is no more of a choice than being gay or straight.
I knew I was bi for very long time, but culturally and generationally that wasn't accepted. So, I spent most of my life in the company of men. I was attracted to women, but I was too much a child of my generation to act upon what I was feeling. (I so envy the young women of today.)
Glad to see something towards maybe getting bisexuals some respect...although I think some bisexuals are also part of the issue there for us not being taken seriously but that's another topic for another time

Women's definitions of lesbianism appeared to permit more
flexibility in behavior than their definitions of heterosexuality. For
example, of the women who identified as lesbian in the last round of
interviews, 15 percent reported having sexual contact with a man during
the prior two years. In contrast, none of the women who settled on a
heterosexual label at that point reported having sexual contact with a
woman within the previous two years.
"This provides further support for the notion that female sexuality
is relatively fluid and that the distinction between lesbian and
bisexual women is not a rigid one," Diamond wrote.
A study that proves that being bisexual is a geniue state and as real as being hetro or gay.I have suffered bigotry from both hetro and gay ppl just for being bi.If a bi women is with a man she is seen as a traitor or somehow less a member of the gay community and if she is with a women the relationship is seen as a joke by the hetro community.I'm not hetrosexual and it shouldn't matter the gender of the person i'm with,I still deserve as much respect as gay or hetro ppl and so do my relationships.

Another interesting tidbit.
There's another thread about this bisexuality study. The scientificblogging.com article referenced includes:
Among Diamond's findings:
"This provides further support for the notion that female sexuality is relatively fluid and that the distinction between lesbian and bisexual women is not a rigid one," Diamond wrote.
