The triangle, the maracas, the tambourine... I played the piano for 7 years when I was a kid and all I remember is row your boat!
but right now all my love and attention is dedicated to my electric guitar... my pretty pretty electric guitar... *drool* I'm gonna go and play with it right now... I don't think anyone can understand the sexyness of that instrument!

I must tell you that one of my neighbors upstairs plays the violin. I can't figure which one of them though. Sure I could just ask them when I see them but I'm too shy. So every time the person plays I try to guess which one it is. One of them is caucasian and the other asian. Thanks for clearing this one up for me.
I play percussion instruments. Basically any percussion instrument. I also attempt to play tenor sax, am teaching myself electric guitar and bass, and have given up on brass instruments all together, they are not for me.
electric bass, and not very well. Ive been playing on and off for about 6 years now. but ive gone so far as to get 2 bass clefs tattooed on my wrist that form a heart. One the regular way and the other one reversed. Its cute and it reminds me of my first love...the bass.
It's a long and winding story between me and the piano. I hated the practice and the teacher, when small. Hence no progress. I don't remember how I managed the weekly session with the teacher without touching the instrument the whole previous week...
I stopped playing when I became busy studying at high school senior year, but picked up again 10 years later and met a good teacher, who improved my performance significantly over the next 20 years!
I am still fascinated at expressing emotions on the keyboard - emotions embedded in the notes of Chopin, Schubert, Beethoven, Bach etc., because I'm not good enough to express it fully.
After all I am not musically gifted, but playing the piano gives me so much joy and challenge.
I play the piano and clarinet, but...my "primary instrument" is voice.
I love intrumental music...especially when the musician is passionate.
Mmmm...
I remember watching a violinist's performance once that gave me chills...
The music was beautiful... She was beautiful...
*heavy sigh*
I'm asian and surprisingly I don't play the piano or the violin...I do play the drums though. I think I chose the drums because it gives me a big drum kit to hide behind when I play...I get nervous when people watch me.
ya a lot of people think that drums are good to relieve stress because you can just hit things, but personally, I need to be happy to play and if I'm stressed I can't do it. Hitting drums hard just to make noise and just to hit something sounds terrible if it's just random, and this stresses me out more because it doesn't sound good at all.
Get no respect. I had to learn to sing and play at the same time just so my bandmates would let me stand up front. Ridiculous... Cool that you play the upright, though. Always wanted to learn...
P.S. The Moldy Peaches are God's gift to humankind.
I play both acoustic and electric guitar and am also a singer/songwriter. We should start an online jam session, we got lots of instruments here: bass, cello, guitars, piano, drums, violin and trombone. We're cookin'
an online jam session would be great. have you done it before? if you have what service did you use? i've used ninjam and cyberjammer. do you know of any others?
I play piano(forced by parents), flute, trumpet(self taught), some drums, and just started acoustic guitar. Yeah, let's just say I took band class for 6 years. Maybe I should throw in recorder and xylophone as well :] sigh* elementary school memories...
ahahahah. i play piano (started at the age of 4) .. i have to say i'm pretty good (scholarship in a music school in england), and i play trumpet as my second study though i never practice...
in my own time i practice the guitar (learning it myself) and i wanna do drums one day, hell yeah! =)
and on a side note i love to sing, but i'm definitely not a pro =D

i speak with my hands
and you speak with your eyes.
I play the guitar, piano, and bass guitar. I love all of them but I'd have to say that I love the piano the most because it's just so...elegant. I used to play guitar in a thrash band haha.
I taught myself to play bass(electric) and guitar..And Im force to play cello for my instruments class in school, I was being taught to play trumpet by a friend but my mom freaked cause I have asthma and she thought that I was gonna get an asthma attack :( which sucks.
I know what you mean Jamie. I've been wanting to start a new band for the longest. But there doesn't seem to be any decent or serious musicians around.
Meg, I understand what you mean about the Cello. It's such a beautiful instrument. I wish I could play too =(
I know what you mean Jamie. I've been wanting to start a new band for the longest. But there doesn't seem to be any decent or serious musicians around.
i know! where are they all? (definitely not in Indiana, but then again, is that really a surprise to anyone? ;)
I've been playing the violin and keyboard/synthesizer for about 13 years now, although I'll have to admit there were some serious off-times in between. At the moment I'm basically trying to catch up on things I could have learned earlier if I'd had the time and patience. Especially the violin stuff can be a real pain if you haven't played in a long time - my left hand seems to have lost all its flexibility. Argh. XD
Still, I am planning to teach myself to play the guitar sometime. I've always wanted to do that. ^^
I play the flute {self taught, too}! And piccolo, but they're kinda the same thing so eh. Been playing for 5ish years. I've always wanted to play a brass instrument though. Trumpet particularly!
Played the flute for 7 years but pretty much out of intutition... I never actually studied much Solfege though and learned to reproduce sounds out of what I heard actually... so yeah, it was kind of self taught too...
also playing piccolos, tin whistles, ocarinas and both electric and acoustic spanish guitar (I just got a lovely pink Hello Kitty one for christmas).
wanted to play the drums but I just don't have the room and my landlady wouldn't allow it! Plus my band mates say you can't play drums if you're the lead singer... so now my ex is playing the drums and has absolutely no rythm at all!!!
I played piano for 5 years and violin for 7 years but I quit both. I currently play the guitar and have been for 5 years now. I hate to brag but I'm pretty damn good at it and play acoustic, solo shows every once in a while.
trumpet, all the way! which goes almost hand-in-hand with cornet and flugelhorn. piano/keyboard, also play guitar, bass, drums, didgeridoo (which is the complete opposite of trumpet, actually). also play saxes, trombone, flute, and any other percussion...xylophone, bongos, beer bottles, spoons, sticks, metal tubs, timpanis, gong, harmonica, etc etc. give me an instrument and i'll play it, music is my life. anyone else? starting a new band at the moment, we're always looking for new people to jam with.
i think musicians have a right to brag about how good we are and not have to apologize for it. underwear on the stage; 'nuff said.
What is the difference betweeen a trumpet player and God?
instruments
Instruments I play
I play the guitar (in a band). I'm also able to play several chords on the piano, a little bass, and a little drums.

that would be me. And as such, I can only read Bass Clef. I would love to learn hot to play the upright bass, however.

Oh...and percussionists get to do so much more now, since the composers have come up with creative ideas for percussion sections.
that is so true
that actually is a really good point about learning the drums, lol!
that'll be good so i can hide behind whenever my mother attempts to show me off *rolls eyes*
oh, and it's a good way to relieve stress. just bash it all you want, i guess =)

My instrument
I used to play the flute some years ago but i had to give it up for my university studies :(
I am not good at singing and the flute was my way of expressing a sense of music.
However, i always wanted to play the guitar and the violin.

everything.
