..I'm late too.
I just watched IMAY and I loved it. But did it REALLY get an R rating in the US? I'm a bit surprised (not much though, sorry), because here in Finland it got the lowest possible rating, an S, which is the same as MPAA G.
But yeah, Imagine Me and You rocked, it was so sweet.
R rating??

So I finally went out to Blockbuster and rented Imagine Me and You. I didn't know anything about it but I've been so starved for a little girl on girl action that the cover of the girls holding hands was enough to sell me.
I'm not the biggest Piper Perabo fan and when I heard her faux British accent, I groaned, 'Why do they have to do this?' But I stuck with it and was very pleasantly surprised to find that Matthew Goode played her doomed husband, Heck. I LOVE Matthew Goode. I may love the ladies but that doesn't mean I can't have a quiet, tasteful affection for understated British men, right?
All in all, the movie was good. Not great, but I'd sit through it again and I'm happy to report that Piper's accent didn't bother me in the least. That's saying a lot. There could have been a little more girl on girl smooching, but that's just a personal preferance.
The one question I battled with throughout the entire film, though, was whether or not the woman who played Luce was Kristanna Loken. Is it just me, or did that girl (whose name is actually Lena Headey and very much NOT Kristanna Loken) look just like her? Maybe like Kristanna's brown-headed stunt double?
Is it just me, or did anyone else see this?
I finally just saw Imagine
I finally just saw Imagine Me And You, and I just love it. It has to be one of my favourite lesbian themed movies, if not one of my favourite movies in general! I loved it so much! Awesome acting, great soundtrack and a really believable love story between Rachel and Luce!
"R" is for Rachel

Hey, this is my first post here in AfterEllen.com since I've been a member a month ago but and avid guest for almost a year.
After I watched Imagine me and you I was like that was the my favorite movie ever in my life.
It really shot me in my heart.
I couldn't imagine that I've been doing sort of things that I've never done before after I watched it. =)
By the way, I saw this forum in imdb.com about things you did after you watched this movie and I was like hey I want to share it here in AfterEllen because I know most of the people here really like the movie.
Here's the things you know your addicted to Imagine Me and You
1. I want to buy the DVD eventhough I have already the movie downloaded in my computer.
2. You want to watch some movies with Lena Headey and Piper Perabo which they played lesbians or just all there movies.
3. You find yourself trying to copy Luce's cool sense of fashion style.
4. I don't like to watch it over and over again because I don't want to be tired on watching it. I just like the feeling of wanting to watch it but keep preventing it. =)
5. You consider moving to the UK and it became your main goal. Since I'm a nursing student, I was like determine to study hard so I could graduate and go to UK to work there. Awesome!
6. You wish and prayed to God that you could find someone just like Lena Headey and Piper Perabo.
7. Your shoutout in your Friendster is some quotes in the movie.
8. You recommend it to all of your friends and really bugging them to just watch the movie.
9. You want to find an arcade in a mall that has that amazing "Dance Dance Revolution" with that specific song.
10. You cry at the end of the film, not because its sad/happy... but simply coz its over. I just can't breath.
11. You're with friends and there talking normally, but something they say reminds you of the film and you just come out with a quote... then they look at you weirdly.
12. When a simple film makes you think about the world and your life differently... and gives you hope
13. You want to say " You're wanker number 9" but sadly football is not a hit in my country.
14. When you changed your autobiography thingy to read "lily" as your favorite flower so someone will ask what's behind with it I just say it means "I dare you to love me"
15. You only saw it once and (like love at first sight) you can't forget one single frame of the entire movie.
16. You read posts like this hoping to find someone as addicted as you.
17. You realize you want your life to become a romantic comedy with witty quotes, great dialogues, beautiful ladies and a happy ending.
18. You start goggle everything about Piper and Lena Heady.
19. You start to go through your day wondering how you can fit every line from the movie into a normal conversation with people.
20. Practice your english accent.
That's all I did. How about you guys? You can share and add up or just copy some of here. :)

i just love this movie. its so cute and just genuinely about love between two ppl. luce and rachel make such a cute couple. although you do kinda feel bad for heck and i wish the ending would have gave us more than just luce and rachel sitting on a bench but oh well...one of my fav movies.
It's a MOVIE
It's just a movie dear, with all the wishfull thinking that come with it, even old farts like me, in a relationship since Elivs left the building who does,'t go AHHHH.

Imagine Me and You (former title: Click)
Sounds interesting, thanks very much for the info!
I like Lena Headey, who from the sound of it will be playing Piper Perabo's love interest.... she's done a couple of lesbian(ish) roles now, I think: she was Sally in 'Mrs. Dalloway' (who has a sort-of romance with Clarissa), and she was Jennifer Ehle's Victorian lesbian lover in 'Possession'.
From the interviews, I have to say that I think Oliver Parker sounds like a bit of a moron.... but Piper Perabo's English accent is sooo cute!
ETA: it sounds like the film will be coming out in the UK on [b:defe0704df]4th November 2005[/b:defe0704df] (source: www.launchingfilms.com )
Imagine Me and You (former title: Click)
[quote:52cb11fbc9="Claudia"]:? It partly depends on how you define 'successful', I guess... To the people who make movies, it's mostly about how much money they will draw in. I agree that some of the films you mention above were break-outs in terms of lesbian film (ie they attracted a substantial mainstream audience), but they were still pretty small potatoes in the broader scheme of things. The problem lesbian-themed films continue to have is that some people won't see them because they're prejudiced, and some people won't see them because they're not interested. You're automatically cutting down your audience in one way (though, obviously, some films manage to overcome this through having popular actors/well-thought-out marketing strategies etc.... part of what made Jessica Stein successful was that they made it look like a straight girly date-movie.... which in a lot of ways it was). It may be that they will be able to do the same with this movie... and I certainly hope so.
But if you notice, Ol Parker (the director) explicitly said that when he was pitching this movie to executives, he didn't tell them it was about two women, because if he had, "it wouldn't have got made". So, whoever those executives were, they evidently didn't think that a lesbian relationship was the route to a successful movie.[/quote:52cb11fbc9]
Executives often don't know a viable movie concept from their buttholes. Anyway, I believe that the recipe for a successful romance movie (wether it is the monetary or critical kind) is to have a special twist to it and that women falling in love/lust with women is a fairly good good kind of twist. And in this case, when it's two pretty, model-like lesbians (or bisexuals or "modern sexual mysteries (tm)" or whatever) I especially think it's a force to be reckoned with. Not to mention that I know straight guys who are drawn to anything with the word "lesbian" in it.
I suspect it isn't exactly going to be an all out "lesbian movie", it's either going to have a tragic ending (society forces them to be apart or the "straighter" one of the girls shacks up with a man, etc) or some failed attempt at social/sexuality/introspective commentary a la Chasing Amy. And I hardly think the director is trying to pull of a Julia Roberts kind romantic comedy either, since he'd need a spiritually lifeless superstar for that, and Piper Perabo isn't quite at that yet.
Or it might just be my special brand of cynicism talking.
Trailers on TV
Does anyone know if there are trailers for the movie showing on American television yet? If they don't advertise it how will people outside the gay culture know about it? I believe they were advertising the hell outta Brokeback Mountain on almost every network.
As far as the movie goes I hope the girls end up together and they don't pull a "Kissing Jessica Stein" on us.
Re: Trailers on TV
I haven't seen any on TV, but I've heard they've played the trailer in the theaters (Brokeback and Memoirs of a Geisha, I think - though one of those was in the UK, maybe?). Honestly, I thought that was impressive - I've never gone to a well commercialized film and seen a preview for a film centered on a romance between two women... Also, they've got the poster for this film up at a theater where I live (and one in a nearby town, I'm told), and this isn't a large city, so even that was kind of shocking. But good :)
Imagine Me and You (former title: Click)
I saw the film last night. So freakin' cute. If you like your movies cute, sweet, sentimental and sappy (I mean this all with the highest possible regard), than this film is for you.
My friend and I have been discussing it all morning and we think this film is quite revolutionary in its own little way by being completely conventional. This is a pretty standard romantic comedy that has lots in common with films like Four Wedding and a Funeral and Notting Hill, but the couple the audience is asked to root for are two women. This film isn't about realizing your gay or turning into a lesbian. It is simply about looking at another person and realizing they are made just for you, except the package they come in isn't what you expected.
Two quick observations:
- Piper Perabo pulls off a Brit accent quite well. I don't think her accent slipped once.
- Lena Headey will set off a wave of girlcrushing across the globe. Her character, Luce, is so sweet and beautiful, everyone will want to find someone just like her... probably even your straight girlfriends.

 Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see....
I'm actually less pessimistic than you about the ending. They've consistently referred to it as a 'romantic comedy', so I don't think it will end tragically. And I'm prepared to believe (given that it's a small UK film, rather than a big American one) that they might actually have the decency to let the girls stay together at the end. But, only time will tell...

Fox Searchlight does try to promote this movie. At least, I saw the ad on some websites I visit every day: IMDB & New York Times
Now IMDB shows its information in the front page under [i:3adc584b17]Coming Attractions[/i:3adc584b17] and ads in the top and side panels. I guess, every IMDB frequent user should be able to notice this movie or he/she is blind.
Not mention that Fox Searchlight still holds some free screenings in many cities after the opening of the movie. I wonder whether anyone drive to attend the screening...

Ok, I dont have anything to really say about the movie I was just wondering why during the interview Piper was speaking with a english accent (she is orginally from New Jersey), I know she is supposed to be english in the movie but during the interview she could have spoken like she normally does.
Not that I have anything against English accents or anything, personally I think english accents are sexy.
It just puts me off that she would use it during the interview.
Ok, now that I am at the end of my post I kinda have an answer to my own question. I guess she just got used to it or something.
I ususally tend to overanalyze things, try to ignore the rambling.
yet another
yet another crappy thing about small towns. No theater will be showing Imagine me and You. So Ill have to wait until it comes out on DVD. sigh. oh well Ill wait for piper anyday! lol :) :P

I plan on going to the free promotional viewing on Wed. here in Atlanta and wanted to know, can anybody give me a few details about how these things work? I've never been to a free viewing of a movie before.
Is it on a first come first serve basis. Do we have to wait in line for tickets before the movie or just get tickets as we enter the theatre? And then they just tell you when the theatre is full and they can't take fill anymore seats. Should I get there early?
Thanks to anybody who can help me. I can't wait to see the movie.

I had these same questions before seeing a screening last week. Assuming this screening is listed on the official website as a free screening, make sure you print out the RSVP confirmation sent to your email and bring it (you need to find your showing and hit the RSVP link). That works like a ticket and I don't know that you'll get in without one. They'll just take that from you when you enter the theatre. There will also be security at the door checking your bag/purse before letting you in. The line outside the theatre was quite long when I went, but the theatre didn't even fill up to maximum capacity. I arrived about a half hour before the movie began and still found good seats. It might depend on the size of the theatre, but I wouldn't show up too early for it, unless you want *really* good seats (the best ones were already 'reserved' anyway)...
I went to a showing in San Francisco, where there were multiple ones for a couple weeks. Not sure how many are in your area - that might also affect the turnout for one screening. Anyway, hope that helps some.

Thanks for answering so quickly. I didn't know I had to RSVP and print out an email from the official site. I would've just gone there tomorrow and been like :dunno: There are multiple screenings at various theaters here in Atlanta, but this one is closest to my house.

Most likely because it will end up being a DVD extra, and to use her natural accent would be a bit jarring after watching the film. Also maybe she is just proud of it, as it is rather good, not perfect but good. Pity Americans only think there are two different types of English accent...posh and cockney, would have loved to her try and do a Brummie or Georgie accent. I'm Irish, and I winch every time I hear someone try and do an Irish accent on screen.

Boy that place was PACKED last night. It was at a theatre in the mall. My gf and I got there almost 2 hours before because we wanted to walk around and shop before the movie started, but decided, just in case, to wander on upstairs to ask about the movie and see if anyone was in line. We get up there and there were already about 50+ people in line. 8O We did not plan on waiting in line for an hour. Oh well, shopping's out. A lot of parties got separated, especially parties of 3 or more.
Cute movie. Nothing incredibly fascinating about it but it was a good, happy ending date movie. Lots of funny scenes. With 2 cute women, and even the guys were cute. Piper did good. "Lost and Delirious" was so depressing.

Wonder how much money this film will make? Lots I hope! I really think this, and "D.E.B.S" are more progressive gay-girl films than all the ernest yet dull fodder of the last 15 years.
Let's make good movies of all kinds which have good, cute gay-girls couples profitable!
