Criminal Minds - Subtext?

Just watched the latest Criminal Minds episode "Penelope" and ... was it me or was Emily/JJ hand holding kind of subtexty? :D

There's been a few episodes this season where Emily and JJ shared some significant glances and this latest hand holding was just something that triggered my subtext senses :D

I haven't been "shippering" anyone in a while and honestly, it's not why I watch Criminal Minds... it's actually a pretty shipper free zone which I like, but honestly, this was enough to peak my interest.

Both women have been written to date men but who says they can't be bi :)

Oh my goodness! That video is made by my best friend and she *totally* got me into the show with the whole JJ/Emily shipness - though I have to say it's a brilliant show anyway.

From what I have seen so far of the show and other clips on youtube... there is *totally* a subtext going on there! Totally!

I didn't see it as a sexual subtext. I saw it more as Penelope being JJ's sister, hence her comment at the end of doing anything for family. I don't recall if JJ's past has been explored much, but we may learn this feeling for Penelope may be related to a family issue/conflict/tragedy the writers have not fully explored.

Oh absolutely, little looks, little glances, it is there throughout the series. I've just started to watch Season 1 again. A girl can dream indeed.

Missy Higgins (who sang All For Believing) kinda sounds like Lindsay Harper (of the Loving Annabelle 'All Over Me' Fame) in this song, or well the other way around hahah.

I totally thought the same thing, Ive been watching the show since the beginning and have always had a crush on JJ so I thought the random things Ive been noticing between her and Emily was just me because it was more of a WLT than actually happening. I sometimes notice the same kind of glances with Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) and Emily. Which leads me to believe the writers might intentionally be doing it, but not going anywhere with it. OR maybe its just the actresses trying to make a little subtext for the fans?

Can you imagine if something happened tho? GROUNDBREAKINGLY (I made that word up I think) AMAZING!

Dont watch the show but i like to keep well informed so i have heard of the growing subtext here.

However, i read on Wikipedia that the actress who plays JJ only takes roles that dont conflict with her Mormon faith...i dont know the first thing about the Mormon faith i admit. Would playing gay go against it?

Emily & JJ? So doing it. I've been shipping them since "Revelations", and these past Season 3 episodes have made the subtext between them painfully obvious.

I have seen all episodes and just recently they started with the glances and touches.... but in context it could as well just be good friends/co-workes things. if i remember correctly it's always one comforting another because of some bad situations like garcia being shot...

but still yeahhh

At the end of the newest episode (3x11 "Birthright") Emily stroked JJ's shoulder! Aaaaaaaw. Blink and you'll miss it, but it was there and JJ turned to look at Emily for an instant. I loved it! Again with the comforting... bring on the fan fiction ;)

I can usually imagine subtext on any show but NOT on Criminal Minds. Sorry but it's just too great a stretch of the imagination. JJ and Prentiss are just work colleagues. Sadly, their interactions are friendship only, not subtext. Brutal but true... Sorry.
