I hope this forum will be a place of refuge to all who find it... *Update: We've expanded our funland to include Kate Winslet, Rachel Wiesz and Helen Mirren...the more the merrier I say! **Update, update: It's now a total free-for-all. *way-late edit* I'm mortified to admit that the original "Subject" of this post was "Saturday Smiles." I really have nothing to say in my defense...maybe too much saccharine with my morning coffee? But I don't use sweeteners... Anyhoo, it was some kind of witless aberration...now corrected! *end of way-late edit*
'nuf said.
Sunday Funnies
Sharp intake of breath...
I think my favorite ...
(besides the photos) ... is the fact that you quoted Twelfth Night while posting photos.
Wouldn't Tilda make an excellent Viola? I think so too. Cate as Olivia? hmmmmm ... and Emma as Feste. Tis brilliant.
We should play this game more often. :D
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Forget Tilda
*shock and apall!*
THEM'S FIGHTIN' WORDS!
I challenge you to a duel, Badass! .... You can not find Tilda attractive all you want ... but don't rate her! She is unratable! Off-limits!
*throws down Jolly Roger*
A pox on your drool!
I smile, I grin, when the gal with a touch of sin walks in
I hope, and I pray, for a Hester to win just one more "A"
Hallooo your name to the reverberate hills ...
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
And make the babbling gossip of the air cry out,
Olivia!
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Nice pose
O! You should pity me ...
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
I am all the daughters of my father’s house,
And all the brothers too.
I think you have a distinct advantage in this game ;-)
so cute!
(S)he doth talk nothing but of [her] horse ...
Nah ... even *I* need to look up verse every once in awhile (like this one ... it's from Merchant of Venice ... couldn't remember). Shakespeare is too big for my brain. But yet, the game I was referring to is casting our favorite three in various and sundry things ... so really, I don't think I'm at an advantage at all.
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
thit is HI-larious
Same pic two different WS quotations...ha ha
OK, that game sounds easier--I was afraid it had to be all Twelfth Night. :-)
impossible!
Quoting only Twelfth Night would be a fool's errand. We've already gone through half the good ones between us ... and my sigfile is another ... so really, we'd screw ourselves with frustration, royally. I wouldn't do that to either of us. :)
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Thank gawd!
But I have to squeeze this one in...
She sat like patience on a monument,
Smiling at grief.
***AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!***
*hides under her desk at work, but says through the fear:
Nice piece of verse you've got there ...
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
My purpose is, indeed,
a horse of that colour. (OK, I"m already starting to struggle...but I won't give up!)
[time out]
This is getting scary!
[continue]
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
In sooth, I know not why
I am so sad.

Sylvia Scarlett
I'm shifting to the classic movies on this one.
BTW: I'm going to leap out of my chair and run screaming from the room if you've posted this pic.
LOL!
I almost did, but saw your post before I went fishing ... that *was* on my list though! :p
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Hester Prynn? or maybe ...
Joan of Arc in jail, pre-inquisition?
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
**Running, screaming from the room**
TOM JOAD!
Call me crazy ...
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Tilda does Emma ...
No?
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
I came very close
to posting a "tilda does emma" with this one (though I bet Emma can button her shirt correctly!)
You know ...
She would look radiant in burlap and shag carpeting.
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Agreed...
OK, I think I've recovered
Still giggling a little. And love Tom Joad! Good call.
This could either be a nun from a Giotto painting...or the Unibomber.
I vote
Nun.
I don't think the unimobmber would pose in front of red brocade wallpaper. That's class, right there.
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
as a blonde, female Jonny Depp, circa 1992 ...
Hmmm ...
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
I have nothing on this ...
It's just hot.

St. Theresa in ecstasy
Could be...?
I promise, all of the religious comparisons are a result of my
uselessdegree in Art History, not a strong religious fervor. No fear ...
I'm not affraid of religious references ... just our uncannily similar taste ...
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Her mother or Pema Chödrön
As Christian Bale ...
I really wish I could be this androgynous ... I would find it immensely freeing.
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
Cate-alike? And almost nekid
She's not her usual androgynous self in this little gem ;-).
She kind of looks like Cate...
I agree with you about wanting to be androgynous--it explains my inability (read: lack of desire) to commit to butch or femme. I can lean either direction on any given day, but gererally like to remain firmly in the middle.
resounding YES!

Definitely. I am the same. My problem with ultimately Tilda-esque [re: awesome!] androgyny has to do with the general chest area. *sighs dejectedly*
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
We all have our cross to bear
I have.
... with the ace bandages (for a few shows) ... it is terribly uncomfortable. But even the Ace doesn't make them go away, completely. Not that I hate them ... they're just ... in the way.
File that away under TMI.
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
I could pull it off
and do, often, even without intending to.
No bandages required!
"every time it rains/ you're here in my head/ like the sun coming out"
(Kate Bush, "Cloudbusting")
Me too.
Easily and gladly.
However-- it doth bring to mind that scene in Shakespeare in Love wherein Ms. Paltrow is getting unwrapped like a luscious gift.
Which suggests a new thread-- post photos of ourselves in ace bandages, as a beautiful (and possibly even significant) lark. For privacy we could keep them cropped, just show waist to lovely collarbone...
or waist to lovely neck and chin...
or even as high as the subject's pretty mouth and still preserve anonymity.
I'd do it. Anyone else up for it? Heck if no one but me is interested I think I might go ahead and make this my next video project.
P.S. to possibly alarmed moderators, if this is against the rules, I'm just kidding. LOL. (Seriously, is it against the AE rules??)
Rules shmules!
We've gotten away with a lot more than some bandaged boobies! I'm in...but you have to go first!
Warning: Once you've seen all of my unsightly bulges, you'll probably ask a moderator to delete the thread!
erm ...
*I* won't post, but I'll fully support everyone else. Pussy-like? Yes it is. But in true Pirate fashion, I'm running away .....
Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates. [Mark Twain]
Don't be afraid PG!
I would say ...
Cate as Katherine Hepburn, but gee, how unoriginal.
So I'll go with Cate as The Great Gatsby.
(you have art pieces, I have literature ... the only art history class I took in college was about the history of American architecture ... sad, I know ...)
And thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges....
What is she thinking about?
Multi-tasking (eeeuww I hate those words)
I'm going to start making lots o' typos because I'm writing as I lead a conference call (so naughty!).
Love Kate and Gatsby.
Here's another smokin' pic:
I love it!
I love that you're leading a conference call and posting at the same time ... because I do that too. :)
Here's your reward (Cate does Tilda, semi-androgyny style!):
