Law & Order: CI

Did anyone else catch the new episode of Law & Order:CI last night? In a "shocking" twist" the lawyer was a con-artist/lesbian/murder. Why are lesbians always either murdered or murders on crime dramas?

Post Script: Sorry, if this was mentioned already.

My, my...  It's not

My, my...

It's not true...We are not only murderer...

You are exaggerating things so much...

Sometimes we are also true psychos and/or rape victims.

But I do have faith in Hollywood.

Or not.

I tuned in for Alicia Witt...

but I ended up seeing yet another L&O in which the killer is an evil lesbian.  I was kind of surprised this wasn't mentioned anywhere else on the site here because I remember there being a mention or two before about how often the L&Os don't show gay characters in a favorable light.

I cannot believe they still go there.  Has the well run that dry for the writers?

Frankly, I am tired of it.

I'm tired of it, too...

At this point, every gay/lesbian character introduced is either a (guilty) suspect, a victim, or both. If I watch the show and there are gay characters, then I known that one of them is guilty.

I imagine this to be the first draft of an exchange in a script before Standards and Practices gets involved:

Dick#1: This girl's the perp.

Dick #2: Are you sure? There's no evidence linking her to the crime scene.

Dick#1: No links yet, but she's a lesbian. That's all the evidence I need.

Dick #2: You're right. New York lesbians are diabolical.

Good thing it doesn't air on Fox.

Why can't any Law & Order have a smart lesbian who doesn't get beaten, raped, murdered or is responsible for the murder? Where are the lesbians who are helpful to the investigation?

A real twist would be introducing a homosexual character, and throughout the episode, no one tries to or does attack him/her for being gay, the character survives the episode and turns out to be completely innocent. To some, this might not constitute a shocking twist, but I'd be positively galvanized.

I like your twist!

But I am not sure the show's writers have it within them to be able to handle writing a gay character who survives AND is innocent!

The final straw for this particular eppie was when we found out the evil lesbian lawyer was trolling a website that focused on lonely husbands looking to meet a woman and said lawyer signed up as "Lee" when her full name was Leanne.

Then Logan says..."the old bait and switch."

Yeah...because that is what us evil women on the prowl love to do online...pretend to be men and then when the women show up for the meet-and-greet...we dazzle them with our fancy-footwork to the point they completely forget about the fact they thought they were going to meet A MAN!

Oy.  Where is GLAAD when you need them...because this pattern of portrayal on the L&O shows really stinks out loud.
