South of Nowhere & DVDs

I am new to the forum aspect of AfterEllen.com, so here goes, I have never seen even one episode of SON; have checked Netflix and have found no DVDs for either Season 1 or Season 2; would anyone have any idea when a DVD(s) will be coming out; I don't want to start where the show is currently now in Season 3.  Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

So far as I know, they've

So far as I know, they've said they aren't going to be releasing any. It seems that as an alternative The People are being pretty decent about free download links (for those of us unable to get the itunes downloads) being advertised on the web.

Ituned and vaguely northeast of Nowhere.

I've managed to fill a 60 gig ipod with all manner of LGBT programming from I-tunes, including SoN 1-2 and a season pass to 3 (although I end up watching it and the webisodes online as soon as they are posted).  I even have some bad (are there any other kind?) Lifetime lesbian-themed movies on it-- although I'm terribly embarrassed to admit that I've watched any of this more than once.  It wasn't hard to to amass 60 gig worth of shows after I cherrypicked from LOGO, TLC, Bravo, F/X, etc.  This means that when I'm traveling I can watch my lesbolicious programming in private and without commentary from my fellow travelers.  Whoo hoo!

SON on DVDs

Still not sure how I'm going to accomplish seeing Season 1 & 2 (part of 3) yet; sounds like you have all the bases covered.  Tks 4 reply.  I can't imagine why, maybe you or someone else knows, why NOT on DVD yet, or some kind of announcement.

they just dont want to part

they just dont want to part with the money to distribute the dvd apparently. maybe one day in the future when they realise the magnitude of demand for this dvd!

Other options are sketchy...

Sorry, I didn't remotely answer your question, did I?  It's a bad habit of mine.  When I googled your question, I came across lots of theories on why there is no release date listed for DVDs, as well as sites sorta like ebay that will sell the DVDs, but they seemed kind of sketchy to me.  I would say caveat emptor if you can't do this via I-tunes.

Youtube...

Youtube might have some posted for you to watch...I haven't checked but most of the vids of South of Nowhere are just lame Music videos made by fans....not clips of the actual episodes....yeah you can do itunes....but why? Don't get me wrong but....I dunno, if you're desperate enough. Oh wait....you can go to: the-n.com for S.O.N. Episodes...but they only have recent ones from season 3....hmmm...I don't know how to help you. Sorry.

Argh!

Because of connection issues, I usually end up watching it first off of Veoh. That said, I DO have a season pass on iTunes and download that when I can get to a wifi site. I'm legal like that.

The advantage of getting it off of iTunes is that it gives the folks at The N an idea of what their non-cable audience is - which will also be a large chunk of their of dvd buying audience.

Mainly, its a matter of making enough commotion for a dvd to make the network realize there is an audience out here who wants a one - preferably with the webisodes!

SON DVD downlads

Does anyone know of a site other than amazon or sell.com where I can download/ purchase the first and second season of SON...?

I tried downloading from amazon but its only avalible to users in the US and Canada....and the Austrlian or UK sites dont have it.

I did find a site "sell.com" which has some one selling the 1st and 2nd season on DVD + webipsodes....that site only processes transactions for US residence only.

I've seen most of the first season....and  the second season wasn't aired in Sydney, dont think we are gona get back in Australia....

SON & Kick

Oz-peeps:

I'm in a similar boat with trying to get "Kick" on DVD.  I've watched the eps on youtube, but Amazon US & UK don't have it (I do have an all-regions DVD that I bought to watch Hex, BG and other shows.)

Worldwide access to queer TV is one of the only things I like about globalization.  Grrr...

Watching SON

There is a way to get around the iTunes not allowing you to download SON in other countries than the US, that as far as I'm aware isn't illegal. It's how I ended up having to do it after I got about 5 eps into Season 1 and then started having trouble watching eps online. I'm not sure as to whether explicit instructions are allowed here. As I said, I don't think it's illegal, as you are still paying for them, but I'm unsure as to where it stands morally. It has to do with Ebay and US iTunes gift vouchers. That's all I'll post here, but it should be enough to guide you in the right direction. If anyone's wanting to watch them and is having trouble finding the info I'm alluding to, message me and I'll explain in detail, but I don't really want to get into trouble if this contravenes any rules.
