I'm reading one of my favorite erotica literature author Fiona Zedde's Every Dark Desire. It is a twist on the cliche of lesbian vampire erotica fiction. The main character is Jamaican human who becomes a vampire and becomes part of a vampire clan. I'm four chapters into. I love the fact it isn't cheezy plus it is written by an out lesbian Jamaican writer. So far so good.
True happiness, we are told, consists in getting out of one's self, but the point is not only to get out, you must stay out; and to stay out you must have some absorbing errand. -Henry James
The Way of Passion: A Celebration of Rumi an excellent book.Left me thinking for hours about me and my higher self, ego, heart, brain and purpose of life´..not so funny at times.
I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (finally gave in and joined everyone else). It's turned out to be more interesting than I thought, and quite funny too.
World War Z by Max Brooks.... i'm a sucker for Zombies. I'm also reading Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures by Vincent Lam (it's part of my Giller prize winnners reads).
I'm in the middle of Rushdie's satanic verses, (I quite understand why some were displeased..) mixed with Snow Flower and the secret fan and sometimes for a change I read lesbian short stories, or re-read Ann Bannon's I'm a woman..
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Tarot. A friend of mine made a Buffy tarot deck and gifted a copy of it to me last xmas, so I figured I should learn how to use it and read it :) This is just my jumping off point!
I'm reading that book too at the moment - but to be honest, up to now (1/3) I think it's really boring... I already read two books in between (Persepolis - great!! and "Röslein rot" bei Ingrid Noll - also boring), but now I've decided to finish this one and hope it'll get better to the end.
I'm looking forward to reading "With no one as a witness" by Elizabeth George next! And I have also the Mao biography of Jung Chang waiting. I read "Wild swans" by her twice, it's a great book and very interesting.
Just finished Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. The movie was free on On Demand and was just interesting enough to make me want to know more about the characters, so I got the book from the library.
I'm about to start Michael Chabon's Wonder Boy.
And now for a book geek moment- I really liked The Historian!
A History of Warfare by John Keegan. And Story by Robert McKee (a screenwriting book). I don't read for pleasure, I read to learn. I like both of them so far, leaves me thinking.
I am currently inhaling all of the written works of jeanette Winterson. I read an excerpt of "oranges are not the only fruit" and have since read 5 other of her novels. Im reading "The world and other places " right now, and im about halfaway through.
i absolutely adore jeanette winterson i am currently reading Art & Lies for I dunno the tenth time. I don't know if you have gotten to the Poetics of Sex in The World and Other Places but if not skip to it because it is absolutely amazing. I literally changed the way I write as did Written on the Body.
I am also about to start Exit to Eden for my book club.
"But I dream of flight, not to be as the angels are, but to rise above te smallness of it all. The smallness that I am. Against the daily death the iconography of wings."
Just finished reading Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows...now I'm reading a reference book from work called "Eclipse Rich Client Platform"......snoring.....
I've just put Ask the Pilot (mentioned in original post) on hold in favour of Confessions of a Working Girl, now that my wife-partner Kirsty is finished with it. It's very nice so far, but someone needs to teach the author (or her editor/proofreader!) about comma splices.

I just finished reading Silas Marner and now I'm reading Middlemarch. Thanks to the first season of Bad Girls I discovered a new interest in works by George Eliot :)
And I'm also reading Sleeping Bones by Katherine V. Forrest
Last night I finished Ugly Americans by Ben Mezrich (the author of Bringing Down the House - the book, not the movie). It was very entertaining! As someone who knows next to nothing about investments aside from what buying and shorting means, this book was still approachable and a great story.
I don't know what's next for me.

I'm reading Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, although I haven't touched it in two weeks because I'm mad at Maud (I was similarly mad at Kitty Butler when I read Tipping The Velvet. I get attached... *Sigh*). Hoping to pick it up again by this weekend.
(N.B. Please do not spoil me by saying, "You won't be mad at her for long..." or something. ;-)

I just finished reading 'Tipping The Velvet' by Sarah Waters, and now i'm sorta reading anything off my huge bookshelf. I'm waiting on a book I ordered from Amazon, but in the meantime i'm all over the place. I'm also waiting for Dan Brown to release his new Robert Langdon book, and until then i'm trying to get into 'Digital Fortress' and kinda failing. I'm having to read a bunch of short texts to do with feminism (yawn) for my English coursework, my sister leant me 'Wasp Factory' by Iain Banks, so i might begin with that.

The Regan Diaries...while i dont agree with him politically its interesting to see decisions made on a MUCH grander scale than i make...(aka instead of worrying about what to eat for dinner he was worried about nuking countries..lol). plus reading about the love between nancy and him is just..inspiring
Im also re-reading EAT PRAY LOVE...amazing book that is now in my top 3 EVER...it touched such a chord with me the first time(its the true story about a woman in her early 30s who decides to leave everything and go on a year long trip to 3 places...italy/india/bali to find different things about herself) i would HIGHLY recommend this book to others
I've just finished "pages for you" by Sylvia Brownrigg. A friend sent it to me to let me know that she's still heart-broken over a girl. :( cheer up, mate!
Currently reading the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon I'm reading number 5 The Fiery Cross. The series started out as time travel but now its about Scottish immigrants in North Carolina, still good though
Susan Cooper - The Dark is Rising series. Nothing like a hacked movie version to make me want to remind myself how good the books were for my 10 yr old self. :)
Books!
I've just finished reading "Confessions of a Working Girl". It was really good, funny and at times (most of the time!) VERY graphic!
I may move onto American Psycho now...we'll see.

Susan Sontag's At the Same Time
Colette's The Pure and the Impure
Camus' The Rebel
John Gray's Straw Dogs
I know that I'm crazy. I'll be starting Dante's Inferno soon. I can't believe that I made through highschool and college without reading this book.
George Elliot, Henry James, Willam Faulker, Flannery O'Connor, Djuna Barnes are just a few of a long list of authors that I love.

Books, yay!
I'm reading The World Without Us. It's taking me forever to get through it, sadly. Damn twelve hour workdays! I miss having time to read.
I think I'll move back into fiction when I get through this one. Or, I might pick up Into the Wild.
