Good songs you want to shareI just wanted to start a thread where people can post good songs. I'll just start with a few songs from Hawaii since I think most of you aren't from Hawaii. Ashes-Pepper Submitted by 17thdreamer (103 posts) on June 3, 2005 - 6:18am. |

journey to the center of your mind, i don't know who sings it.

Pretty much anything by Brandi Carlile
I gotta admit, I'm kind of a country hick, but I'll spare you the tear-jerkin-my-wife done-left-me-and-my-dog-up-and-died songs...right now I am in LOVE with Brandi Carlile's music (she's pretty cute herself). My favorites are: The Story, What Can I Say, Fall Apart Again, Wasted, Happy, Over You, and her covers of Hallelujah (AMAZING!!!!!!!!), Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain (Willie Nelson) and Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny freakin' Cash!!!) Her voice gives me goosebumps, especially in Hallelujah and The Story...

To start it off I was hoping some people could tell me about more quality female musicians. Right now I mostly just like Regina Spektor, Lazytown, and The Hush Sound. I prefer something poppy and up beat but you can suggest anything. Thanks in advance/I appreciate it =x.

Within Temptation
Hey Mich, I couldn't help but notice you're using Within Temptation's (new) cover art as your avatar. Whatcha think of their new single? Life of Agony singer Keith Caputo duets with WT singer Sharon... http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1816012005
On the other hand, I see you really like Mylene Farmer... So Within Temptation might not be your cup of tea at all.

I've loved Electrelane for a while now but have just discovered a song off a their early E.P. It's called 'I want to be President' and it's amazing, like a weird electro, rock, pop hybrid.
Also, just discovered the Organ and they do a very nifty line in retro, 80's tinged stuff. 'Memorise the City' is particulary good.

After hearing the remix of this song done by Diplo, the original will just seem boring.
I have a confession to make. I love alt country, I can't help it. I love the banjo. My favorite artist that would fall under this heading has to be Langhorne Slim. He is a great musician out of New York, and the cure for boredom with most music. "I Will" is a wonderful song.

Gay cowboy song
Have you all heard the new Willie Nelson song "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly (Fond of Each Other)"?? Obviously riding the wave of Brokeback Mountain, he recorded this old song and released it a couple of weeks ago. The lyrics are pretty corny--it was written in the 70s or 80s, I think--but it's adorable because he sings it in a totally genuine, straightforward way, with no hint of irony. Coming from the man who has made so many cowboy songs famous, I think it's fantastic.
