'New' Wonders of the World

How many have been following the vote on the 7 Wonders of the (Modern) World?  How many can name all 7 Wonders of the Ancient World?  Sadly, the answer to both questions are pretty much the same -- Or so we thought.  Over 90 million voted in a world-wide vote to name the 7 Wonders of the World (Criteria: Pre-2000 C.E.).
The winners are:

• The Great Wall of China

• Petra in Jordan

• Brazil's statue of Christ the Redeemer

• Peru's Machu Picchu

• Mexico's Chichen Itza pyramid

• The Colosseum in Rome

• India's Taj Mahal

The 21 finalists were as follows:

Acropolis - Athens, Greece

Alhambra - Granada, Spain

Ankor - Cambodia

Chichen Itza - Yucatan, Mexico

Christ (the) Redeemer - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Colosseum - Rome, Italy

Easter Island Statues - Chile

Eiffel Tower - Paris, France

The Great Wall - China

Hagia Sophia - Istanbul, Turkey

Kiyomizu Temple - Kyoto, Japan

Kremlin/St. Basil's - Moscow, Russia

Machu Picchu - Peru

Neuschwanstein Castle - Schwangau, Germany

Petra - Jordan

Pyramids of Giza - Egypt (Exempt because they are the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World)

Statue of Liberty, New York, USA

Stonehenge - Amesbury, UK

Sydney Opera House - Sydney, Australia

Taj Mahal - India

Timbuktu - Mali

America was very low in voting -- Thank God or we might see the Statue of Liberty as a wonder.  Of the winners, I did vote for the Great Wall, Petra, Machu Picchu, the Colosseum, and the Taj Mahal.  Christ the Redeemer though?  It's a statue, not a monumental engineering accomplishment (by modern day standards, it's not that old).  Where's the Acropolis?  Where's Ankor?

Petra, while it definitely should be there, only won because the Jordan government's call for Jordanian votes. At the least, it will draw attention to a site which deserves world-wide praise.

Did anyone else here vote?  What did you vote for and why?  What's missing from the list of finalists?
