News, Reviews & Commentary on Lesbian and Bisexual women in Entertainment and the Media

Gia Carangi

Is anyone here familiar with late lesbian supermodel, Gia Carangi? She was one of the first supermodels, a heroin addict who became one of the first women in the US to die from AIDS. She finally got clean once and for all, only to find out she had AIDS. She passed away at 26 in 1986. I just started a community for people who know of her or who would like to learn more about her...anyone is welcome.

Her dying wish was that people learn the dangers of drugs and not to make the same mistakes she made. My goal is to carry on her message and her legacy.

when i first bought this movie it was cuz it had angelina jolie in it. i was like 15 and still stuggling with accepting my sexuality. Its a awesome movie that really touches ur heart. even alot of my straight friends love to watch it. GiaBaby it is really a good thing that you are doing keeping her message alive.

great movie

I just finished watching "Gia" and it is a very moving and impacting film. I haven't been moved to tears sence I read " Where The Red Fern Grows" in 5th grade ( a long time ago) and this is the first instance sense then that I have been unable to control the waterworks.

SPOILER ALERT

Angelina Jolie really shows off her acting chops, Gia is real and loveable(and in love with a girl) and at the same time raw and flawed. I donno if I will see it again, not because it is not a good movie but because it is difficult to watch the unfortunate distruction and eventual death of the title character, Gia.

I loved Gia..
wow was she cool!
so ahead of her times...
her Pa. italian beauty was luscious
I have an old interview with her
and she was bright, creative and interesting
I'm always looking for another model
who's like her but noone seem to even come close

I'ts beyond sad how she died
and that she had to die........
It's to bad too because I feel she would have
fit in so well in the more open
times
and been an inspiration
and role model
as a lesbian
and cool, incredibly beautiful woman, if she was
able to beat her addiction...

GiaBaby,
It's really great you're keeping her message
and memory going!
