Climbers ThreadI'm so addicted to climbing. For me there is so much to love about it, I can't get enough. So much so that once I discovered it I started having trouble concentrating on my work or having conversations with my friends because the internal dialogue in my head was "climb, climb, climb,..". In the beginning, as much as I knew I must be annoying I was like "Climb blah, blah, this and climb yada that." Ugh. So I'm not so annoying now, I've learned that few care as much as me, so they'll be spared. But I'm wondering if there are any climbers out there in AE world. korea on the rocks
have you checked out the website: koreaontherocks.com ? it might be useful, i haven't looked through it thoroughly but it's one of the main sources of climbing info for korea on the internet..
=D
i boulder! sort of... haha. but i want to start getting into trad as well... and eventually do big walls...someday...
I wouldn't recommend
I wouldn't recommend climbing outdoors in Korea right now - the humidity is suffocating. Here's a good website for climbing gyms in Korea - http://www.indoorclimbing.com/southkorea.html
Most of them are based in Seoul, but there are a few in other large cities. Good luck in finding a gym you like.
You Exist
Like fairies...only realer. Started climbing a year ago and I can't freakin stop. I go to uni in Wales...so, sheep and rock faces woop, yeah!
Also Manchester (home) has a super-duper climb centre.
But I need to get outside more, I like the comfort of a great big crash mat too much.
....anyone any ideas for places that are great to climb in the UK?
still crazy after all these years
rocks... =)
where do you usually climb in the UK?? must be awesome! if you can get to france, go to france! fontainebleau and chamonix =D Rock and Snow magazine in japan just did this article on climbing in the UK..I'm looking at it now. Sennen Cove in Southern England looks nice (I see the words Cornwall peninsula (?) and Land's End in the text but can't really make out the rest of it) ...
Isn't Manchester right near the Peak District?
I wouldn't know much...i've never been to europe...

Step one: Admitting adiction
I climb everyday. I climbed after having had shoulder surgery. If my fingers are too sore from crimps, I'll climb slopers instead. If my forearms are too pumped, I'll set a real juggy route and focus more on footwork. I builder when I can't find crags or gyms. I climb door molding, windows...I'll climb anything.I seriously considered taking a huge paycut just to teach climbing everyday. At that point the Army offered intervention and sent me off on a mission for 3 weeks...STILL managed to find a gym an hour away from where I was.
Every climber should read the Rock Warrior's Way. It'll up your game - mentally and tap into power you've been keeping on reserve.
I am enormously jealous that
Where do you climb?
Has anyone climbed in Boone, Banner Elk or anywhere in the NC mountains? It's beautiful.
Love climbing
Mostly do just top-rope - have done some multi-pitches but really no one to do them with and not all that plentiful where I am geographically. I had my gear stolen so, it's been over a year since my last climb (so sad and pissed off about it) and so I hope to get some climbing gear soon and to be back on the rock this summer.
Little Burnt Out
I got heavily into climbing my first year of college, but cut waaaay back when I started training for triathlons a couple years later. Now I work at an indoor climbing wall, so I climb every now and then when the wall is slow. But I'm kind of burnt out with it.
Climber forearms are totally hot though. So keep rockin' it, ladies. And if anyone ever wants to do a little expedition in the Midwest, hit me up (because there's no place to climb in Kansas so I haven't been on actual rock since I moved here from California).

Still a newbie, but loving it
I just started climbing in November with friends and I'm definitely hooked -- finally bought my own gear about a month ago. Thought it would be a good challenge since I'm afraid of heights. I climb at least once a week at a local gym, but have yet to get outside. I think they finally convinced me to take that leap of faith.
Any other climbers out there with a fear of heights? Or any recommendations for making the switch from gym to actual rock?
fear of heights
If you're afraid of heights climbing outside might be a little overwhelming at first but you'll soon realize it's more in your mind than anything. Also, the rocks outside have alot better texture so they're not as "slippery" as the one's at the gym (especially if they just had a little kids birthday party with lots of pizza and greasy hands). You have to find your own routes unless you wanna follow the chalk marks on the wall which makes it more fun. Basically, once you go outside climbing indoors will be a poor substitute for the 'real' thing:)
Did I mention rapelling is so much fun, too?!
Thanks
