That's nice to hear.  Now,

That's nice to hear.  Now, if only her husband would.  I'm not holding my breath on that one though.

good for her

but i feel like this is a way to try to get votes from the gay community without having to actually support the gay community.  I mean, Laura Bush is pro-choice, but her husband hasn't exactly gone out of his way to support a woman's right to chose..or reproductive rights in general.

ps--am I the only one kinda sick of politicians overrunning pride festivals?  I mean, I appreciate their support, of course, and I like to know which politicians will show up and support the community.  But I think that there should be some requirements.

for starters: 1--The politician should have to be there.  Not just their local office trying to gain some emails for their damn listserv. (an exception could be occasionally made if the candidate appears at a pride parade/festival in another city.  2--They should have to have a proven track record on LGBT rights legislation.  Supports marriage rights, anti-hate crime legislation, adoption rights, don't-ask-don't-tell, etc.  Also, a proven track record supporting trans legislation.  (after all, it's not just LGB pride)

Sorry for the rant.  Don't even get me started on all the corporations showing up just trying to sell stuff (what the hell does zipcar have to do with LGBT pride?).  Again, it's good to support gay-friendly companies, I get it, but sometimes I feel a little like i'm being used.

Her own two feet

John Edwards said that he supports civil unions, but he is not sure about marriage. I understand where he's coming from (sadly) and although I disagree with him because I fully support marriage equality, I still like him for all the other issues. (He wants to eliminate the Don't ask, don't tell, and implement universal healthcare, just to name two).

I admire Elizabeth's move to publicly say "my husband and I differ on this issue" and show up to march!

You know the saying that "behind every great man stands a great woman"?...Well, she could be that person that makes him change his mind. I hope she does.

But compared to many other candidates out there, I'll go for the one who believes MORE in social justice  than personal dogma. He's not perfect, (obviously conflicted on the marriage issue) but definately a cut above the rest in my eyes.

I'm watching John and

I'm watching John and Elizabeth Edwards on Jay Leno right now and I think I might actually be warming up to him although I wish he'd just agree with his wife already.  Anyway, there's still plenty of time till the elections.

I meant to watch that last night but I went to bed early. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find it on youtube pretty soon.
