i've just bought my first bike, it isn't a hog, but i think it is a great bike. its a 1977 550 honda, and i'm designing an art piece to have painted on it. i've seriously thought about using my avatar on it. just to make a statment, but i'm afraid someone would f**k up my bike. i love the feel of it, its so freeing, it rids the mind of the crap of the day.
right now its a metal flake black, i want it to be a metal flake pink, like "sally hansen"metal polish pink. what ya' think?
The 550 Hondas were way cool. I've had a 1980's CBx550 a while ago and it was hoodles of fun, not to mention virtually unbreakable.
My first was a Suzuki GS 450, entirely painted matte black, fearsome beast. Believe me, no one would have dared f**k with my bike.
Since then I've totalled a beautiful Ducati 750ss (and almost lost an arm and a leg in the process) but that didn't stop me from getting a Monster 620Sie one year later (it is a good thing my Mom does not read this forum - funny how it was easier coming out than telling her I got back on a bike).
omega_800, go for the Duke... trumps the bmw any day... they are just so much more FUN!
I have...well, my dad went through a midlife crisis, shaved his head, peirced his ear and bought a motorbike, but again I say, I *cough*...have a Suzuki Boulevard C50. 750cc. Red. Shiny. Soooo pretty. Burnt myself on the exhaust the other week (pants = good idea, right), but that wasn't so pretty...I'm in the process of trying to find out how much getting a bike license would actually cost. The bike's too big to be learner enabled, so I'd have to like, rent a smaller one or something to learn on. Or...I don't really know how that would work. Sigh. I really want to figure out the license jazz this summer, so I can start working towards saving up to pay for it. It's only just turned summer here, and I'd never ridden on it in good weather before and gaaaaaah it's a totally different experience. I fell in love with the bike, so whereas before I was like: eh, I'll get the license at some point, now I'm like: need. License. Now. And RTA's website has so far been completely unhelpful in giving me tips moneywise. Anyone know anything about the process that could help?
I still have my 1986 Honda VT500C Shadow. It is my third bike and I love it, especially the drive shaft. No chain adjusting for me! The water cooled vertical twin gives a smooth ride. And a good helmet has saved my life twice now. I highly recommend not skimping moneywise on a helmet.
I have a black 2004 Harley Davidson Fatboy, Stage 1 with some nice extras.
I got back on a bike last year at 35 after not having one for 15 years and love it! I took my test at 18, I did a refresher weekend and intermediate training course before getting on this as I don't need to kill myself. This summer I rode from London to Southern Spain on it, 1800 miles in lovely sunshine. Now it's dark, raining and 4C :-(
My gf thinks I love my bike more than her sometimes.
.....But i think I'd be waaaay too scared! My dad used to ride a motorbike, and so did my grandad and Grandma, waaay back in the day when people rode in sidecars! But i'd want a proper big beast of a bike, all black and red and shiny.
To be honest, thinking about it..i think this is all because i saw one of my science teachers in her bike leathers last year and almost fainted. Like...wow. Im still holding out the hope she's a dyke with a bike, but im not betting on it, lol!
Still, it would be nice if i could grow some guts and get a big motorbike :D My hat is off to y'all who risk life and limb to ride...*salutes*

I decided this would be a nice college graduation present to myself. I've been through hell the last 4 years and I've always wanted one so I figured what the hell. It'll probably freak my mom out but you only live once.
