Not sure about that either, Canada doesn’t have anything entitled Big Brother that’s made here but Kirsty said shows and we do get the American version.

I really enjoy Big Brother. My best friend and I have watched all of the past seasons. Every time we like someone they almost immediately get voted off and I’ve never been a fan of anyone who won, but I still find it a fun show. It’s like a social experiment. Ivette being in this season just makes it more exciting. Did anyone catch the quick kiss she gave her apparent girlfriend while she packing? They made a weird comment at the time and I spent the rest of the episode trying to figure out if she was into girls or not. It’s hard to tell what she’s like so far, but her profile includes favourites such as The L Word, Angelina, Johnny Depp, Brittany Murphy, The Killers, cookie dough ice cream and reese's pieces. Love her already.

I think it's an either/or thing, i.e. if you're not "married" then you're "single." I don't think it's meant to be a homophobic slight at all, as there are probably other people in the house who are in a relationship.

I noticed it too though.

In Mexico we have two BB, one is with ordinary people and there is another one where the contestants are "celebrities", well actually some of they are and others are not so much. I liked the BBvip better than the regular.

Great article on the home page about Ivette. She has been a disappointment to me in the BB house. She does come across as a bit vile and vulgar herself.

Interesting to see if she outs herself while in the house though, but most of them already seem to suspect she is a lesbian. I would just like to see more of her being herself and hoping she doesn't think by outing herself would not get her further in the game or maybe she is thinking that it would be obvious since her partner is gay also that they would link them together (which they already have anyway).

Koma, you’re totally right about the single status thing. I hadn’t bothered to look at the other profiles but that makes a lot more sense.

Ivette’s comments haven’t bothered me. I know plenty of girls-who-like-girls who don’t like the word ‘lesbian’, just as I know gay men, bisexuals, trans folk, etc. that dislike or prefer a lot of conventional and unconventional words. I personally don’t like being labelled as a lesbian because I think queer or gay fit me a lot better (although not because I have anything against the word itself). It’s really just a matter of preference and semantics and I don’t see why her shunning the name is a big deal. I suppose it’s more about her using the word ‘vulgar’ and the choice of that word is a little odd and extreme, but I know a lot of people that dislike it or find it negative for assorted reasons.

I liked Ivette at the start but that’s definitely waning on me now. I know that if I hadn’t heard that she was gay she would’ve started to piss me off sooner, I just wanted to root for her. She’s just really whiny and annoying with quite the tendency to overreact. The average BB contestant, really. I still love the show, lol.

You know what's also dissappointing about Ivette
is from what I read European BigBrother is way ahead

I like Yvette yes she is annoying but so is the entire cast. All of them are always crying about this or that. Hey, she is beautiful to watch.

Big Brother 6 is half way through here in England, and I was just wondering how the American one works. Do the housemates nominate each other each week and then the public vote for who they want to evict or is it totally different?

I think everybody in that house is annoying that said I still hope cappy's team wins. When Yvette told April and the others in her team that she was gay they were very cool about it. In Saturdays episode Maggie had no problems with Ivette hugging her Maggie didn't pull away when Yvette put legs around her that was cool. The other team thinks they are better than anyone, Janelle is the worst and Kaysar is so annoying with his I am the only one playing this game fairly, shut up Kaysar. James needs to shut up but I hope Kaysar is the one to leave this week. I hope Howie joins Cappy's team and I hope he wins it all.

Are you for real, Ivette has being making racial slurs at Kaysar since day 1. And now that more people know that Ivette is gay, Howie being Howie was singing a song about rug munchers Kaysar although not a fan of Ivette thought the song was distateful. He may not approve but he isnt going around making racial or homophobic slurs like Ivette and saying how Janelle is probably being gang raped by the men and that Kaysar is Osama Bin Laden. Ivette should thank her lucky stars that most of the shit she says is not aired but if you have live feeds you will understand why she is the most despised houseguest on the net.

I have watched the feeds a few times and can add to this discussion, with that in mind. Kaysars and Janelle extremely dislike Ivette with a passion. Kaysar cannot stand a woman who speaks her mind and Janelle just thinks she is ghetto and annoying. There whole team is very smart, but when they try to have fun it consists of brutally making fun of Ivette's team with egotistical overtones.

Ivette and her team aren't very bright. But, when they have fun they are HILARIOUS! Ivette totally makes me crack up. And they do this without making fun of anyone. They have slumber parties in the HOH room and they explicitly talk about lesbian sex with Ivette and have no problem with it. They ask her about her girlfriends and such. It is so cool! Let's just say as a virgin girl, I have learned a lot. :) Anyways, this group has good hearts and honest friendships with eachother.

The rest of the world seems to be on Kaysar's and Janelle's side and loathe Ivette. This is mainly because she talks a lot and some may think she is annoying, and she also isn't very smart, and that further annoys people. But she has a good heart and is funny, but they don't show that. I kinda like her. Everyime I say this in the chat rooms, I am beaten on the head by a stick covered in curse words.

I guess what get's edited by cbs and shown on the three eppy's a week, and what's seen on the 24/7 live feed are like night and day. I personally base my opinion on the characters personalities on a weekly basis and unfortunately they have made Ivette look like a loud and obnoxious, unintelligent , woman, but to be honest with you I personally don't like to many of them on this seasons BB. With the exception of Kaysar and the two quiet girls april and her partner. Janelle seems kool but i think is very snotty. Anyways, we can't like everyone and may the best backstabber win.. :wink:

Ivette is funny to me. She reminds me of my friend so much. I think the only way people will warm up to Ivette is if you were to get to know her personally. And Angelkuti22 do tell about their little sex talks. From one virgin to another help a person out.

Ivette is a horrible person. All her day consists of is bashing Kaysar and Janelle with extremely hateful words. She hated Janelle from day 1 because Janelle is a pretty blonde.

I've had live feeds from day one and have only noticed Kaysar, Janelle and Howie make fun of Ivette either two or three times and it was mostly Janelle and Howie. All Kaysar was doing was mocking the WHOLE GROUP not just Ivette. So, saying that he hates women who speak their mind is just ludicrous. He said "They all kiss eachothers asses 'you're the best' 'you're the cutest' but none of them are the best or the cutest".

Janelle is snotty, yes. But she doesn't make as much ignorant comments as Ivette does. Ivette keeps referring to Janelle as "the dumb blonde". When Janelle is brighter than Ivette has ever been. Ivette talks about anyone and everyone badly, except for Eric. Even April and Maggie are noticing.

Ivette's own team will begin to turn on her because of her attitude. She's made the most ignorant comments in the house by far. CBS seems to like her Diary entries though so, they'll never show any of those comments. But that's okay since the TV audience seems to hate her just as much as the feedsters.

You may be right about that. Like I said, I only watch the feeds a few times, mainly at night, and that is what I have noticed. They goof around and Beau does his impression of gay, super gay, ubber gay, etc.

Ivette thinks Janelle is dumb because she does act dumb. It is part of her plan. Ivette doesn't like Janelle because Janelle gave Ivette the cold shoulder from day 1. It is also noted, by the group, that Janelle never does anything to benefit others. She never cooks, cleans, and wants to take and do everything. In my mind, she is very selfish.

Ivette seems like a very giving and caring person, despite how ignorant/stupid/annoying she may sometimes be. That is how I measure a person minus the ignorant part. That bugs me. But she seems to have a good, warm heart compared to the other group.

Some things Ivette has done that have peaked my interest: She tells stories to the group about her relationship with her g/f Maggie, everyone calls her her nickname, Tush. Ivette would show how to go down on a girl with facial expressions and her group would try to mimic her, it is hilarious. She would tell stories about girls she went down on and what to do and such. (spread the lips and stick your mouth in there). No one seems disgusted or anything. She talks about romantic things her g/f and her have done. How they like to take showers together and just stay in and stuff, trips they have taken, etc.

Ivette loves to talk...which is a great thing, for me, cuz I get to hear all this sweet, cute stuff she does with her girlfriend. She is really cute when she talks about her. When the game comes to reference, she can get nasty. But she admits it, and is probably less effected at home.

I also love how interested everyone is in her stories (everyone but Janelle and Kaysar). They treat her like just another couple, saying how cute they seem to be. The fact that she is a lesbian doesn't phase them in one bit.

One night, Ivette said she wanted to blow up some condoms to make balloons for April's b-day. The straight girls tell her that they are lubricated. They then ask her if lesbians have tongue condoms, or use syran wrap or something. Ivette says none of her lesbian friends have and the group explodes with laughter that Ivette said "lesbian" because she hates that word. Then they yell "It's not a disease Ivette" poking fun of her. I thought that was funny.

Did you watch last night? Maggie, April and Jenniffer called her out on some of the nasty things she's said to them. She tried denying it but was shot down. She stayed quiet the whole time, nodded occasionally but never apologized. She blamed her actions on a couple of things but mainly blamed it on Eric being gone.

I now remember why Ivette doesn't like Janelle. James made something up (I forget what) and that was cleared up the day before Eric left. Neither Ivette or Janelle chose to talk to eachother about it.

I try to like Ivette, I really do. But I just find that she loves to back-talk people all the time. (That is apart of the game but I mean as soon as someone leaves the room she says "Did you hear what he/she was saying? What kind of moron....") The only person she hasn't done that to was Maggie, Eric and Beau. Her and April have this in common and that's probably why they don't like eachother. (Have you heard the saying "there's just something about her that I just don't like in me"?)

She is fun to watch though. On CBS. Her diary entries are funny. I probably only notice the bad because I don't like her. I started hating her the day Eric and her were attacking Kaysar for Michael's doing. He kept saying "Why are you attacking me? This has nothing to do with me!" and she said "You know what, Kaysar? This does have something to do with you! You're not going to like what happens!" I still don't understand where she was coming from during that convo.

I will admit that I do love to hate her, though. The live feeds would be more fun to watch because I find that she repeats herself over and over again but the TV show would be boring.

I could go on and on and on about BB. I love that show.

Ok, I can see what you are saying and on some level I agree. I believe I am rather biased because she is one of the only real life lesbians I have come to know so deeply, even if it is through a screen.

I guess maybe I choose to believe she has a good soul through her intentions, and blame her petty comments on immaturity. She does seem pretty immature.

I don't remember what her argument with Kaysar was about. I recall knowing at the time where she was coming from when I watched it, but the connection is lost with time.

I agree with you that BB is an awesome show. Especially since it is on three times a week. You really get to become invested in it.

The most notable difference is the housemates in the U.S. version are allowed to scheme and discuss who they are going to vote off with each other when they're in the house, wheras in England it's not allowed (Nasty Nick). So much of the "game" in the U.S. centers around each of them planning who the other is going to vote off (usually the nicest person gets the boot). The winner in the U.S is awarded based on a jury of the old housemates that got kicked off prior to them. Its always down to two people (and usually the jury picks the best of two evils). I remember the U.S season 1 show being based upon a public vote, but there is so much corruption in those (i think one contestant's home town voted multiple times), they canned that idea.

What an amazing post, did anyone watch Housecalls. Marcellas was all over Kaysar, he is in love with the bloke but I guess most of America is too. I think Kaysar has the best shot of coming back mainly because he is really liked and most people online want to see Ivettes look when he walks through the door instead of her precious Cappy. Oh and Ivettes gone back to being old bitchy and nasty again, now that Kaysars gone her new target is Rachel. Everytime I feel that Ivette is reaching a turning point she says something that makes me go back to comletely disliking her.

Ivette went back to her normal self today. She got angry at Rachel for basically telling her the truth. Ivette wanted one of Howie's twinkies that he got as a privilege to the HoH room (it's more than likely one of his favourite snacks) and Rachel told her "No, those are Howie's twinkies".

Ivette told April and Beau earlier "To hell with Rachel. I'm so sick of her. She's so obnoxious. I want her out!" Um, huh? If Rachel's obnoxious then what is Ivette?

No one really has the guts to stand up to Ivette though, unless it's a whole group. Jennifer, I think, is the only one that tells Ivette what she thinks of her, when she thinks that of her. She has the guts to say 'okay stop yelling.', 'You're talking waay too much' and that sort of thing. I think that's why I'm so fond of Jennifer. She's also pretty so that's a bonus.

I'm sad to say that I think Ivette will go far in the game only because she's in the greater alliance and no one sees her as a threat because she isn't all that bright. She is a threat because she isn't seen as a threat. Does that make sense? All her decisions are based on personal feelings. They're never strategic.

By the way, what do you think about Beau? He's in the house, yes. But is he playing the game? Either that's his strategy or he's the dumbest player in Big Brother history.

I agree with a lot of what you said, actually. Ivette is just really immature. It is sad to see someone who knows opression and bigotry, first hand, dish it onto other people.

Kaysar has been my favorite player as a single. I love to just listen to him, he is amazingly intelligent and well spoken and respectable. For that reason, I would love for him to come back.

However, I can't stand James and that made me root for the "friendship" group over Kaysar's. But now that Howie put them up I am back to rooting for Kaysar, Howie, Rachel, and even Janelle.

I still will always look forward to Ivette's lesbian comments. :)

This was the first season of Big Brother that I didn't watch. The show is just really starting to grow old for me.

It's nice that there was a lesbian on the show, for a change, though. Even though Ivette doesn't sound overly nice. It seems like they always have made a point to include the 'token gay guy', in my opinion, and there's never been an open lesbian on the American show before, that I know of. I was planning on trying to be the first, but it's a good thing I won't be because I'm not so keen on the idea of auditioning for the show anymore (well, actually, I'm really more bisexual, and I don't remember seeing a bisexual on the show). :P

When I saw this on TV, I LAUGHED and LAUGHED! Even Ivette's g/f likes Janelle (and can't figure out Ivette's Cappy obsession).

I laughed again when America's Choice picked Janey to leave the house for a surprise. The other 3 just don't get it - they make themselves look so bad when all they do is whine and cry how good they are and how bad Janelle is when in fact the nerd herd all do the same thing. People mentioned how Ivette ignored Beau and chose Eric but she had seen Beau recently and I think Ivette was extremely disappointed about the loss. Who should have won? It's okay!
