New York Scene: So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

Ever since Pantyhos bowed out of the Brooklyn queer scene in early 2010, Hey Queen! has taken the reins and become the go to party for Brooklyn queers. In early November, the power was still out in parts of New York City after Hurricane Sandy, and the home of Hey Queen!, the neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was inaccessible by subway. There was a gas shortage as well, and cabs were few and far between, but no little storm can stop the queers from gettin’ their cheers and beers. Hurricane induced cabin fever had taken hold and the room was packed wall to wall. The theme was supposed to be “Prom Queen” but the set designer took a different approach, probably because there was no transportation and he had to improvise. Photos are below.
