Good afternoon everybody! I’m trying to pull myself together after a fun night out at the Chicago premiere of Cowgirl Up starring our very own Bridget McManus. I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats. We’ve got some fantastic (truly, it’s a great week) new music to go with that pretty smile on your face.
The top spot this week goes to the former Floetry singer with the velvety voice packed with soul. When we got to speak to Marsha earlier this year, she said this was the album she was meant to write. The award-winning songwriter has succeeded at crafting a gorgeous album you’ll want to put on repeat.
This is some of the most infectious power-pop music I’ve ever heard. This second album seems a bit darker than their last and packs quite a punch. It really doesn’t hurt that the girls are adorable as well. Don’t take my word for it, you can stream their entire album over at Spinner.com!
Fans of Lykke Li’s last album, Youth Novels will be happy to hear some lyrical maturation to go along with her brand of smoldering electro-sometimes garage pop. Do yourself a favor and watch some of her beautiful music videos.
This is the first I’ve heard of the Brooklyn duo of Molly Shea and Jason Klauber but it’s exactly what I needed today. It’s subtly sexy new wave dream pop and it’s making me want to take a walk to the museum sculpture garden and pretend it’s much warmer than it really is outside.
The debut album from this Londoner reminds me of Chrissie Hynde for a new generation. I dig the rocking and she has completely romanced me with her voice.
The third album from this talented family will fill your ears with an abundance of melodic bliss. You can expect lilting vocals, textured layers of sound and heavy crescendos. This is one of those albums that makes you feel your feelings.
Lucinda is a rock-Americana alt-country legend and this album showcases exactly why. For fans of prolific songwriting, a little blues to go with your rock, I present you with Ms. Williams.
