New Music Tuesday: 11-30-2010

Happy post-Thanksgiving new music Tuesday everybody! Usually, I’m not a fan of getting back to the office but this year my Thanksgiving was filled with long car rides, our dog Bubble getting sick in the car, our dog Marshall farting up the car and my mom driving me crazy. In retrospect, that was probably the only appropriate way to celebrate a time in which people were killed and their land was taken away from them. I digress.

The top spot this week goes to a band I would never immediately say I like, but whenever their songs come up on the radio I’m like, “Who is this? This is a jam!” and then I usually break into a really dorky dance that I only feel comfortable doing in the privacy of the car. Much of their success (to my ears at least) can be attributed to Fergie, who I had the pleasure of seeing live a few years ago and she just killed it. Love her.

Fun pop rock that leaves the cookie-cutter singers in the dust. Sure, she’s radio-ready but her sound is strong and unpredictable. I’m a huge (though relatively new) fan of FeFe. I’d put her in Kelly Clarkson or The Veronicas territory.

From what I’m hearing of Chrisette’s new album, I really like. It’s raw R&B that reminds me of Toni Braxton and maybe a little Fantasia. “I’m a Star” is the obvious first single.

Apparently this is a great week for hip-hop and R&B! Sullivan has got Missy Elliott, Ne-Yo and Anthony Bell (among others) listed as producers, so you know it’s going to be well crafted and in-your-face.

Honorable Mentions: Bryan Adams, The Boy Least Likely To, Cristian Castro, El DeBarge, Flo Rida, Soulja Boy and Glee Vol. 4.

Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments!
