Neve Campbell and Wes Craven reunite for “Scream 4”

Alright everybody — get your high five hand ready to go all around your inner circle: The Scream franchise is about to add another movie to its family.

I am one of those horror-haters who will physically slap you across the face if you suggest we rent anything out of the Saw catalog. Perhaps it’s the witty banter and self-reflexive “horror rule” explanations taking place throughout, but Scream is the only horror movie I can totally get down with. Maybe some of this has to do with Neve Campbell.

Maybe a little bit even has to do with Skeet Ulrich. (He’s a pretty man). In any case, the first three Scream movies were highly entertaining and, after 11 years of being without, I think it’s high time to get more.

Horror master Wes Craven is on board to direct and Neve, Courteney Cox and David Arquette will be reprising their original roles. This could get really interesting! Will Sidney (Neve) be the first one killed? Will she go nutso and decide to join the dark side? Hey, if you can’t beat ’em, murder ’em. I’m hoping for the latter, though, either way, her screen time may be severely limited.

The original cast members will be secondary to the group of younger actors they’re assembling for the flick. Since original screenwriter Kevin Williamson is back on board, I predict a lot of CW stars and minor characters lining up to get in on this. Williamson is the mastermind behind the hit series The Vampire Diaries. (Can I put in a request for Kayla Ewell?)

Is anyone else as excited about this as I am? Any excuse to get Neve Campbell back on screen is good enough for me.
