Live Music Performances to Check Out At The Dinah

It’s almost here — The one place per year where more lesbians gather than anywhere else on the planet. Where queer women across the globe migrate to transform Palm Springs, California into a Lesbian Mecca. Feast your heart out, Sweethearts. It’s Club Skirt’s Dinah Shore Weekend. Brace yourselves.

Getting lost in topless lip locking sessions with sexy pool partners might cause a few of us to lose sight of what this event is actually all about: Music. Here is a line up of live musical talent you need to check out when you aren’t twerking naked during Dinah’s Battle of the DJs. (This list will be updated as more acts are confirmed). Arguably one of the gayest songs in existence — CeCe Peniston released one of her many hit songs, Finally, during 1992. Having been active since 1991, CeCe Peniston has been signed to thirteen different music labels. Her accomplishments include making the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart five times within three years. Lizzo Photo via Facebook

Lizzo’s songs are catchy, clever, and sometimes humorous. She has appeared as a musical guest artist on both the Late Show with David Letterman and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. This sassy Minneapolis singer/songwriter was noted by Time Magazine, in 2013, as “one of 14 music artists to watch in 2014”. Her most recent EP, Coconut Oil, was released last year. Currently touring with Ariana Grande, this hip-hop artist and choreographer is rapidly making headway into the limelight. As Grande’s only female dancer, Lady Cultura stated in a Wonderland interview, “I get to dress like and be myself. Making history.” Cultura will be releasing an EP with producer Santell during this year. Butterscotch Photo via Facebook

How Butterscotch does it is a mind-boggling mystery, but her super human abilities to both beatbox and sing rich soulful lyrics at the same time — while playing guitar — is by far one of the most impressive performances that can be seen live today. Did I mention that she is also a pianist? No? Yes, she does that, too. She entered the public’s radar during the second season of America’s Got Talent in 2007. Tish Hyman Photo via Facebook

Originally from New York and currently in Los Angeles, Latisha “Tish” Hyman is blowing up the pop music scene. She was signed to the independent record label Blues Babe Records by Shawn Gee – who has served as the tour manager for Lil’ Wayne and a music manager for Nicki Minaj. Tish’s debut album Dedicated will be released on July 8th, 2016. Her music video “Subway Art” is an exposé of the struggles everyday New Yorkers face trying to survive in the urban jungle.
