Nothing says "holiday" like a movie about the pursuit of depraved killer of women, right? That’s what theatre owners are hoping we’ll think with the on December 21 release of the US version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
As someone who could barely get through the 2009 original because of its brutal scenes of sexual assault and generally depressing vibe, I was not exactly putting tickets to the reboot on my Christmas wish list. My sense of responsibility to see movies with strong female leads on their opening weekends would probably have propelled me to David Fincher‘s highly anticipated new movie anyway, but now that I’ve had a look at the clip below, featuring eight minutes of footage from the film, I’m actually looking forward to seeing it!
Have a look and maybe you’ll feel the same:
I had my doubts about Rooney Mara stepping into Noomi Rapace‘s formidable boots, but I think I underestimated her. And after witnessing his transformation of James Bond into a broken-hearted thug in Casino Royale, I’ll pretty much watch Daniel Craig in anything.
What do you think? Are you willing to forego the holiday cheer and hunker down for this violent, suspenseful ride when it opens in a few weeks?
