Gossip Girl here. It’s a truth totally acknowledged that members of Manhattan’s elite must be in want of roles beyond The CW. However little known the random views of such actors may be, certain parts are considered the rightful property of one or the other of the women in CW shows. Enter Blake Lively. Our dear Serena has made the big screen scene but hasn’t made the big time, in spite of wearing traveling pants and surviving bombs and playing Pippa in a picture nobody saw.
But this just in: The lively Blake is rumored to be up for the role of none other than Elizabeth Bennett, who alternately plays pride and prejudice in the Jane Austen account of her romantic adventures. Only this version of the account is substantially less favorable, giving us the picture as seen by Seth Grahame-Smith. And our dear Seth sees undead people. The teeming masses liked Pride and Prejudice and Zombies so much better than the original P&P that movie producers snapped up the film rights faster than a lady’s imagination jumps from admiration to love. But finding their Elizabeth was no simple matter. The Easy A girl isn’t so easy anymore and a certain Oscar-winning swan took a quick dive out of the production for reasons unknown. We even heard that Scar Jo said “Hell, no” when asked to be the zombie butt kicker. Where some might see chaos, Lively’s agent sees opportunity. But is Blake up to the job? Maybe we should ask Sarah Michelle Gellar, since the same Marti Noxon who put words in Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s mouth is scripting Lizzie the Undead Killer.
Then again, these particular words require a British accent and, if Our Town is any indication, alternative articulation is not exactly Ms. Lively’s forte. If she gets the part, perhaps Ed Westwick could give her a few tips on the tongue. In fact, now that we mention it, Mr. Ed would make a perfect Mr. Darcy. Are you listening Chuck?
