Morning Brew – Caity Lotz talks Sara Lance and bisexuality in “Venice Magazine”

Good morning! Happy Friday.

Does Orange is the New Black portray lesbians correctly? This site says kind of.

The Gays and Lesbians Association of Zimbabwe is protesting the violent, homophobic treatment of LGBTs in their country.

An Israeli lesbian writes about the Pride events in Be’er Sheva.

Natasha Lyonne and Rowan Blanchard star in Carrie Brownstein‘s new film for KENZO, The Realest Real.

St. Vincent‘s cover of The Golden Girls theme song is everything.

Slate says not everyone is queer.

Caity Lotz is on the cover of Venice Magazine this month, and inside, she talks about Sara Lance’s bisexuality.

“Because Sara Lance is bisexual-something that’s not yet widely portrayed on TV-a lot of girls who are bisexual or lesbian tell me how much it means to them to see someone like her. And that’s pretty cool. I like the way the writing staff treated Sara’s story, that her sexuality isn’t a big deal, it’s just the way she is. It’s normal.”

Out Making a Murderer EPs Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos talked about their Emmy nominations with Deadline.

Jill Soloway is happy that the issues at the heart of Transparent “keep mattering.”

Queer muslims exist!

Black Futures Now is doing some necessary community building.

These lesbians ruined everyone’s childhoods when they dressed up as Ghostbusters.

A few women share the stories of falling in love with Kate McKinnon.

Speaking of Kate, she says that her character in Ghostbusters is “basically” her. She also joined co-star Leslie Jones to talk more about the film with Refinery29 and The Root. And here she is on The Today Show, and talking about her cat on Live with Kelly.

Soko talks about her acting career with V:

“I get so involved in films that my personal life starts resembling what I’m shooting. When I did that movie where I was a soldier, my ex-girlfriend came with me to Greece-where we shot-and we were in a hotel room together for two months. I became OCD, the way you are when you’re in the army and you have all these rules and shit. I was telling her, ‘We need to clean right now!’ When I do a movie, I don’t know who I am anymore.”

Kristen Stewart‘s favorite Woody Allen film is Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and I can only assume it’s because of ScarJo and Penelope Cruz making out in the dark room.

Celesbians, they’re just like us: They stay friends with their exes.

An out lesbian is suing the University of Iowa for gender discrimination, and now they’re laying her off, adding fuel to the already pretty flaming fire. They fired her partner, a women’s field hockey coach, too.

Dolly Parton has a new song called “I’m a Wee Bit Gay” and I can’t wait to sing it at karaoke.

If only Helen Gurley Brown would have actually written her book about lesbians. It would have been hilarious, right? Or sad. Or both.
