“TRON 2.0” goes Wilde
OK, TRON-heads, gather round. I have the best news for you since you learned that rumors of TRON 2.0 are true: Olivia Wilde, who played bisexual Thirteen on House and Alex Kelly on The O.C, has been cast as one of the female leads.
Producers are keeping a tight rein on TRON 2.0 plot details, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, “Wilde will play a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film.”
Costumers, may I suggest a look?
Wilde’s costar in the forgettable (trust me) Turistas, Beau Garret, has also been cast. She will play “a siren in the virtual world.”
TRON 2.0, which will be shot entirely in 3-D, will start production next year for release in 2011.
TRON was one of the first movies to use computer special effects and has become a cult classic among sci-fi geeks as a result. I’m looking forward to seeing how TRON 2.0 takes advantage of new technology while keeping the spirit of the original.
Are you a TRON fan, or might you become one now that Olivia Wilde is involved?
