A few weeks ago, I saw the trailer for Vantage Point, which hits theaters Feb. 22. The thriller presents eight perspectives (à la Rashomon) on an assassination attempt on the U.S. president. It stars Sigourney Weaver and some other people.
Fine, the other people are Matthew Fox, Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker and William Hurt, but all I really need is Sigourney. She plays a TV news producer named Rex Brooks. Rex! That’s hot.
And Zoe Saldana plays a reporter in the film. I guess we can assume she’ll be working under Sigourney. Ahem. I couldn’t find any stills of her in Vantage Point, but here’s a picture of her in uniform in The Terminal:
Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer (Munich) plays a paramedic who provides one of the viewpoints.
Vantage Point is getting a big promo push starting tonight: During the season premiere of Lost, we’ll see the first in a series of TV spots that ask viewers to solve a Vantage Point puzzle. Each spot provides clues to various mysteries on the official website, WhatIsYourVantagePoint.com. Tonight’s 60-second spot also contains a code that unlocks special Lost content on the promotional site.
And it’s not just something to do when you’re bored at work — you can also enter the associated sweepstakes for a chance to win a fabulous prize, such as a Sony video camera or a hi-def TiVo box and a one-year TiVo subscription.
The website also offers a few non-sweepstakes games, include a memory game in which you have to memorize a face and re-create it by clicking facial features. It’s sorta like making a Wii Mii, but with fewer options and no opportunity to play tennis afterward.
Here’s the trailer (watch it in hi-def here):
Looks good, though I have to say it also makes me think of Benazir Bhutto … I haven’t quite recovered from that news footage.
The “Can You Solve the Puzzle?” promotion officially kicks off at 2 p.m. PT today, if you need something to do while you’re waiting for tonight’s premiere of Lost.
