Five female-fronted films to look forward to in 2011
So 2010 graces us with black swans and all-right kids and band of runaways. But out with the old and in with the new. So what female-fronted films can we look forward to in 2011? Already a solid field of contenders is emerging featuring everyone from young rising stars like Mia Wasikowska and Emily Browning to fan favorites like Cate Blanchett and Olivia Wilde.

A look at five of the most promising female-fronted films of 2011.
Jane Eyre, March 11
The new adaptation of the Charlotte Brontë classic amps up the creepy factor and gives The Kids Are All Right and Alice in Wonderland star Wasikowska a chance to shine solo.
Red Riding Hood, March 11
My, what big eyes you have, Amanda Seyfried. The better to make you think this movie isn’t just Twilight but with werewolves, my dear. Though it probably doesn’t help that original Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is helming the project.
Hanna, April 8
This movie looks amazing and every synonym for “amazing.” A pint-sized assassin Saoirse Ronan being chased by a bad-ass Blanchett? Yes, please, immediately.
Sucker Punch, March 25
We already know all about Sucker Punch, don’t we ladies? And we’re ready and waiting.
Cowboys & Aliens, July 29
OK, so it’s not female fronted but it has Olivia. So, you know, close enough.
So, pretty good, eh? Which movies are you most excited about? And what other films that put females front and center are you looking forward to in 2011. Discuss.
