"The Kids Are All Right," "Black Swan" nominated for Indie Spirit Awards
This morning, Eva Mendes and Jeremy Renner announced the 2010 nominees for the Independent Spirit Awards. Every year, these awards celebrate independent filmmakers and air a few weeks before the Oscars.
This year's nominees are very female-friendly, with the Debra Granik-directed (and female-led) Winter's Bone up for seven different awards. (The film also won two in two categories at last night's Gotham Independent Film Awards.)

I'm bummed that Mila Kunis and Julianne Moore aren't up for Best Supporting Female, but am glad to see so many women in categories outside of those designated for women only. Some other misses: Noomi Rapace or any of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo films, as well as I Am Love. I can't believe neither even made it into Best Foregn Film.

IFC will broadcast the Indie Spirit Awards on Feb. 26, so make sure to tune in and see which women win.
