Morning Brew – Mary Lambert will give us the goods from the VMAs

Good morning!

I have some great news for you guys: Mary Lambert will be performing at the VMAs with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis when they do “Same Love” this Sunday. Even better: Mary will be sending us exclusive pics from her time at the show, which we will live blog and tweet and put on our Facebook. Got any suggestions for a hashtag? #lezvma?

Amber Heard talked with The Edit about her personal life, saying she knows it’s going to be talked about.

“I have had relationships, successful relationships, with men, and I had a great relationship with a wonderful woman. I will never beg for an easy classification or label for that moment in my life, or assume to know what the future holds for me. I have always been and always will be just who I am and I will never fake anything for anyone. I am not ever going to be a person who has a desire to expose myself more than I feel. Being a private person made me want to not expose myself any more than I already had. But I also felt I had a responsibility to not appear to be in hiding. I watched people around me succumb to hiding and hiding denotes shame. I feel, and felt, zero shame. We all love who we love; we don’t choose it.”

Ain’t no shame in Amber’s game.

Whenever a celebrity goes a little cray, lesbian rumors start. Obviously that’s part of the equation. This week: Amanda Bynes. (Why are they called “lesbian romps”? ROMPS!?)

AE reader Trude sent us this tip: Out Norwegian singer Silje Hrafa has released her new album, Paper Bag Poetry. It’s available on iTunes and Spotify.

The Real World: San Diego’s Sam McGinn announced on Instagram/Twitter that she proposed to her GF. She said yes!

BleedingCool has a post about how sad lesbians on Tumblr are about the death of a queer character in Fearless Defenders. (DUH.)

Lily Tomlin and longtime partner Jane Wagner may just get married after42 years. Lily joked about how simple the ceremony would be:

“No rings, no bridal dresses. Maybe we’ll be dressed like chickens.”
Can I please be invited? Thanks.
