Morning Brew – Wednesday, March 2: Tegan and Sara in Sara Bareilles’ “Uncharted” video, Pat Field supports John Galliano

Morning!

So many stars have joined Sara Bareilles in her new video for “Uncharted,” including Tegan and Sara.

I am liking the song, and all the lip syncers.

Kate Kendell, head of National Center for Lesbian Rights, is being recognized by The University of Oregon’s Knight Law School’s Public Interest Public Service program with Dom Vetri “Champion of Public Interest.” The award is given annually “to honor an attorney or academic who has demonstrated a significant commitment to advancing legal issues of public interest.” Congrats Kate!

Model Daisy Lowe is Holly Miranda‘s BFF and, apparently, she considers herself “a mild lesbian.”

She told GQ that she has the hots for Kelly Brook (naked lesbianish romper of Piranha 3D) and “Yes, I think women are really hot.” We might have been able to surmise this from her W Magazine shoot last year, but you never know with models!

Nicki Minaj is talking about her collaborator, Rihanna, yet again. She told i-D magazine, “She’s the best fondler ever because security didn’t hem her up and she left to tell about it!” And when it comes to what she says about women in her rhymes, here’s how she explains it:

The way I rap is the way I speak, it’s conversational. I try not to limit what I put in my raps. People can take from my raps whatever they want to take out of it. When I say, “My bad b—-es” or comment on a girl, I think I should be able to say women are beautiful and I don’t have a problem with that.

If you want to read more into it, then that’s on you. Maybe it makes a better fantasy in your brain, but I just do what I do. That’s the way I speak. I like to compliment girls and make them feel proud and make them feel better about who they are, no matter how they look.

Jane Lynch will be on Sirius Radio’s Jian Gomeshi on “Q” tomorrow. Friday, Meredith Baxter will be on. (Thanks Helen!)

Out fashion designer Patricia Field sent out an e-mail to friends and people she’s worked with to say she supports designer John Galliano, who was fired this week for being videotaped making anti-Semetic statements. She told WWD:

People in fashion all they do is go and see John Galliano theater every season. That’s what he gives them. To me, this was the same except it wasn’t in a theater or in a movie. John lives in theater. It’s theater. It’s farce. But people in fashion don’t recognize the farce in it. All of a sudden they don’t know him. But it’s OK when it’s Mel BrooksThe Producers singing “Springtime for Hitler.”

They don’t even see the farce in it. Fashion people who know him have not come forward. They know his theater. Believe me — my name is Field — my stepfather was Jewish.

Meanwhile, Natalie Portman, who has worked with Galliano, has spoken out to say she’s disgusted by his remarks.
