Morning Brew – Wednesday, Feb. 16: Jessie J on falling for women, lesbians coming to “The Walking Dead” comics

Morning!

The cast of Skins (US) posed for Elle this month in a rather sexy spread. Here’s a look at one shot of Sofia Black-D’Elia.

There’s also some behind-the-scenes video with the cast discussing their own personal style.

In Australia this week, it was ruled that a lesbian mom cannot move interstate with her 4-year-old because her ex-partner has “equal-shared responsibility” of the child, despite not being on the birth certificate. One more step towards equality! Too bad for the mom that wanted to take the kid and run.

The New Gay has a video interview with hot new queer band Tayisha Busay. Two women + one man + sexy fun = awesome group. And if you think so, they’d love your help funding their first album.

Know who else is Kickstartin’ something? Daniela Sea. It doesn’t appear to be set up yet, but Daniela Tweeted about it the other day, linking to her new band on Facebook. So “Like” it on FB and keep up to date with what is currently called “My Band With Bill Schwartz.”

Kate Cook and Damon Cox told Spin.com why they named their band An Horse and what kind of band names they don’t like at all. Kate said:

Anything with the word funk isn’t good. Funkadelic or funky should be illegal. There should be rules, and they should be adhered to. Funkabilly. Funkadelic. No thanks.

Guess they won’t be changing their name to Kate Cooper’s Lesbian Funk Machine anytime soon.

Out artist Marlene McCarty is behind this supercool poster for Michelle Williams new movie. Best movie poster I’ve seen in, like, ever.

Lesley Goldberg alerted me to this amazing news: Lesbians are coming to The Walking Dead! The comics, that is. But here’s hoping they will eventually make their way to the show on AMC, as well. Said series creator Robert Kirkman:

There will eventually be lesbians. I promise. I think it would be a bad thing to have existing characters just suddenly realize they’re lesbians though. Just you wait, pretty soon we’re going to have lesbian zombies!

What? This guy is inside my brain.

Bisexual actress Saffron Burrows has been cast in The Finder, which is a Bones spin-off. She’ll play “a bar owner who knows her way around a helicopter cockpit.” Her partner-in-crime (and hopefully non-love interest) is a character named Walter Sherman. The pilot will debut as the 19th episode of Bones this season.

Good news Jessie J fans: Heather Hogan sent me this link and you’re going to like it. The Brit singer/songwriter/pop star told Rollercoaster magazine she’s not straight.

I’ve fallen in love with guys and girls, I’m very open about it. There’s a pressure to pigeonhole yourself, but I’ll never put a logo or a status on my music or sexuality. I am what I am, I do what I do. I fall in love with who I choose.

She also said she’s in a new relationship, but won’t say anything further.

It’s very emotional, it’s very new. I’m very young and I’m still getting to know myself. I put myself in the spotlight but people who are close to me haven’t chosen to be in the spotlight. So I’ll keep them hidden if I can. I’m very picky about who I like, who I fall in love with, who I have around me. It’s about being comfortable. If you can accept yourself then other people will too.

Let the speculation begin! (And doesn’t her song “Do It Like A Dude” take on a whole new meaning?)

Out actress Amber Heard is a wanted woman! Specifically, Avi Lerner, producer of the Red Sonja movie remake, wants her to play his leading lady. “Amber is the new Red Sonja,” he told Empire, “but she doesn’t know it yet!” Someone tell her now please.

Today in Lesbianish TV: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (check local listings), The Talk (CBS 2 p.m.), Bringing Home Baby (TLC 2:30 p.m.), Bump! (Logo 7 p.m.), The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC 9 p.m., midnight, 4 a.m.) and Rosie O’Donnell on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (NBC 1 a.m.) (Thanks Roni!)

Have a happy Hump Day.
