Morning Brew – Wednesday, Dec. 28: “The Bachelor” has a bisexual contestant, Ruby Rose is moving stateside

Good morning!

With all of the talk about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, not too much has been said about Lisbeth’s bisexuality. Director David Fincher discussed it with CinemaBlend:

We start with the source material. We start with the book and [Lisbeth’s bisexuality] is what the book described. I didn’t feel there was any need to put a frame around it. One of the things we were very particular about was when she meets Miriam Wu in the bar. We wanted that to be a moment of happiness. There are two times that you see her smile in the entire movie and one of them is when is she gets the attention of Elodie [Yung] and Elodie comes over to kind of say, “Why are you here alone?” I thought that was important. I also think that Salander’s sexuality is less of a ambidextrous thing than it is something that she has to act on. I think the tragedy is that friction is not a problem for her; intimacy is a problem for her. I know that, to me, was the important thing to show.

I can’t wait to finally see the film tonight.

Well this sounds just terrible: A new “bisexual bachelorette” is apparently the scandalous one on the new season of The Bachelor. In Touch reports that Monica Spannbauer “makes a move on” fellow contestant Blakeley Shea. Damn it, they might have figured out a way for me to watch the show.

MTV’s newest Road Rules/Real World reality show, The Challenge, pits exes against each other. The only girl-on-girl couple is Aneesa and Rachel, who I had no idea hooked up. Where have I been? The show debuts Jan. 25.

Ruby Rose posted a link to this Q&A with her saying she was interviewed by one of her exes. She also answered quite candidly, but that’s Ruby for you! She said of her New Year’s Resolutions:

Have a baby, release a record, travel, take my first holiday, move to L.A. Wow, that’s like 1 life change a month… lets make that the 5-year plan.

Ambitious, per usual. I can’t wait to have her in the States.
