Morning Brew – Wed. May 30: “Real Housewives” star Rosie comes out to her family, Cynthia Nixon’s wedding photo

Morning!

The Real Housewives of New Jersey has a regularly appearing lesbian on the show named Rosie, sister to one of the housewives, Kathy. This week, the sisters will have a talk about why Rosie never came out to Kathy’s kids. There’s a clip over at The Huffington Post, where Rosie also talks about being gay in a big Italian family and her newfound TV fame. On coming out to the kids:

…to do it in front of the camera I thought it would be a good thing to show to viewers. If there’s people out there who are struggling like I did, why make them struggle so bad the way I did? It’ll help them to not keep it to themselves for such a long time, and to see my family’s reaction to it. “Oh, you know what, look at that! Their reaction was OK!” Maybe it’ll help somebody else out there, even people on the other end of it that are not the person who is gay — the other people who have to accept it and maybe don’t understand it.

It was a big step for me, to tell you the truth. I don’t go around with a poster on my back saying, “I’m gay!” If somebody asks me, I’ll tell them the truth; if not, I leave it alone. I don’t want there to be labels. So if anybody had a question in their mind, there’s no questions anymore.

I don’t watch the show, but I would for someone like Rosie, like this clip of her falling for a lovely lady.

Actress/singer Kat Graham is a huge LGBT ally and she took it one step further on The Ellen Show yesterday when she performed her single, “Put your Graffiti on Me,” and dedicated it to Jennifer Tyrell, the lesbian den mother who was kicked out of the Cub Scouts for being gay. Check out the performance and dedication below.

Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marioni have released one of their wedding photos. I am loving the green. So spring!

Jessie J was given the Glamour Solo Performer of the Year Award last night. Congrats girl!

TV producer Jim Paratore passed away yesterday from a heart attack. Jim was pivotal in the careers of Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell. RIP Mr. Paratore.

Gillian Anderson will star in the sci-fi mystery I’ll Follow You Down as the wife of scientist who “mysteriously disappears on a business trip.” I’m assuming that since he’s the one disappearing, we’ll get to see a lot of Gillian.

This is a little NSFW, so use headphones! New Zealand celebrities are asking “WTF? Why don’t we have equality for our LGBT community?”

A new season of Friendzone kicked off on MTV last night and it looks like there will be some lesbians trying their luck with their BFFs. I hope it turns out well for them!

Syd tha Kid is trying to raise some funding for The Fun Shui Experiment, a documentary following her duo The Internet’s attempts to make it in the music industry without the support of a major label.

IndieWire remembers the lesbian-themed film She Hate Me, including a shot of Kerry Washington’s butt. Yes, we enjoyed that as well.
