Morning Brew – Tuesday, Jan. 24: “Bomb Girls” has a lesbian factory worker, “Foxfire” is getting a remake

Good morning!

I’ve been telling you about Self-Evident Truths a lot, but it’s because it’s a rad project. Now they are raising money for their video component. Check out the video and then visit their Kickstarter page. Amber Heard wants you to.

In an interview with xoJane, Kreayshawn says she is currently asexual because she only does it with people she loves. If it weren’t for her drug use and poor grammar, she might have been a good role model!

I just found out that there’s going to be a remake of Foxfire. I’m not even joking. This version (which stars “five unknowns”) is supposed to follow the original novel by Joyce Carol Oates more closely and is directed by French filmmaker Laurent Cantet. I’m assuming that means Jenny Shimizu doesn’t make a cameo.

One person who is in the remake is Ali Liebert, who is currently starring in the Canadian TV series Bomb Girls. It’s my new favorite show that so many of you tipped me off to, and Ali plays a lesbian bomb named Betty maker during WWII. Are you watching this show? I’m crushing really hard on Betty.

The Oscar nominees were announced this morning and I’m so thrilled Janet McTeer is up for Best Supporting Actress in Albert Nobbs. Hers was my favorite performance of the year!

WetPaint has “5 Reasons Heather Morris Needs More Screen Time on Glee.” I’m sure you’ll agree with them all (especially #2) and come up with more.

Did you know Sandra Bernhard was offered the part of Miranda on Sex and the City? I love that, no matter what, someone gay was going to play Miranda.

Summer Glau has been cast on Grey’s Anatomy, but there’s no word on what her role will be as yet. It is known that she will play a very tiny person, because that’s what she is.

Heather Hogan sent me Nia Peeples‘ NOH8 photo and, wow, Emily’s mama is getting a little sexy in the name of equality!
