Morning Brew – Tuesday, August 2: Marlene King questions the Pretty Little Liars’ sexuality, Anna Paquin says It Gets Better

Gooood Tuesday morning, Brewbies! As I mentioned yesterday, Trish Bendix is bringing us the in-person les/bi scoop from TCA this week. You can check AfterEllen.com for the latest news and interviews, and you can follow Trish on Twitter (@trishbendix) if you want up-to-the-minute, behind-the-scenes scoop! Last night, she hung out with Amber Heard AND Rachel Maddow at the NBC party. Go ahead and get your covet on!

Lookin’ good, Ms. Bendix!

In her Gay Goggles post yesterday, Dorothy Snarkers mentioned a tweet from Pretty Little Liars showrunner Marlene King, in which she asked if Emily should be bisexual like she is in the books.

Marlene quickly followed it up with two more tweets.

And then last night, she turned the tables on the rest of the Liars.

Um, yes. Hanna should date Emily. Is that even a question?

Speaking of Pretty Little Liars, Sara Shepherd did an interview recently with PLL.com in which she shared some writing tips. This one’s my favorite:

PLL.COM: Your books are always filled with huge, crazy secrets. How do you keep yourself from spilling all the juicy details?

SARA: Oh, it’s really hard. Sometimes I pretend like A is after ME, and if I tell, something awful will happen.

You can check out the full interview at PLL.com.

Anna Paquin wants to remind you that she is a gorgeous, bisexual lady – and also, It Gets Better.

If you like fantasy and blood – True or otherwise – maybe you’re a fan Spartacus: Blood and Guts and Gay Sex and Topless Lucy Lawless. If you are, you know Starz is following it up this year with Spartacus: Vengeance. They dropped the first Vengeance trailer yesterday. I didn’t make it past 20 second-mark, when some dude got stabbed in the throat. But if you’d like to watch it, hop on over to the Starz official website and check it out.

Yesterday, Gawker picked up the story about the lesbian Norwegian couple who rescued 40 teenagers during Anders Behring Breivik’s tragic shooting rampage on the island of Utoya last week.

“We were eating. Then shooting and then the awful screaming. We saw how the young people ran in panic into the lake,” says [Hege Dalen] to HS in an interview.

The couple immediately took action and pushed the boat into Lake Tyrifjorden. Dalen and Hansen drove the boat to the island, picked up victims in shock, the young and wounded, and transported them to the opposite shore to the mainland. Between runs they saw that the bullets had hit the right side of the boat.

Since there were so many and not all fit at once aboard, they returned to the island four times.

They were able to rescue 40 young people from the clutches of the killer.

That kind of heroism just rocks me to my core. Our thoughts and prayers are still with you, Norway.

This week, in his adorably awkward web series, Seven Minutes in Heaven, SNL‘s Mike O’Brien hangs out in a closet with Kristin Wiig. I heart this lady so hard.
