Tegan and Sara stopped by Elle‘s women in music event last night in L.A. and Sara also performed her song, “Why Even Try,” with Theopolis London.
Across town, Anna Paquin classed up the red carpet at the Scream 4 premiere. I’m so going to see that this weekend.
So it looks like Glee writers aren’t really sure what a lesbian is. A spoiler from E! says that Santana is “working on another male conquest soon.” Awesome. Maybe Naya Rivera can squash that rumor on today’s Wendy Williams show, where she’s a guest.
Out actress Felicia “Snoop” Pearson has been allowed out on $50,000 bail in Baltimore. She’ll have to wear an electronic ankle bracelet to monitor her location, including the Philadelphia movie set she’s headed to soon. There’s an arraignment for the drug conspiracy case on May 5, so she’ll definitely have to be back in Maryland then. The sad part is that she lost out on some roles because of the arrest, including some episodes of the New Orleans drama Treme.
The TV Land Awards are a little lesbianish this year! Out actresses Meredith Baxter and Geri Jewell were reunited with the casts of their legendary shows, Family Ties and The Facts of Life, at yesterday’s award show. Also, Nancy McKeon was there. (Jo!) You can watch the show next Sunday on TV Land at 9 p.m. ET.
Emma Donoghue is up for the 2011 Orange Prize for her novel, Room. She’s nominated alongside five other female authors for the honor and $30,000 award.
You guys, Tig Notaro played Kristen Stewart‘s (aka Joan Jett‘s) mom in The Runaways but the scene was cut from the film. The out comedian told The Star-Observer of her time on set:
It was a totally new experience for me to shoot a dramatic movie. Joan was there with her actual mother to watch all our takes. Unfortunately I was ultimately cut out of the movie. It was a bummer for a couple of days, but then I remembered I’m a comedian who never even wanted to get into acting. I was told that because the movie was actually about Cherie Currie, the backstory on Joan wasn’t crucial, so they got rid of it.
If that’s the case, then let it be known I’d now like a movie all about Joan and her backstory, including her possibly lesbian mom.
Tig also dished on her pilot for Logo, which she filmed in LA recently.
It was with cast members from Mad Men and we had such an amazing blast shooting it. We get confirmation if it’ll air either way in the next four months. Even if it doesn’t air, I still feel like an oddly lucky person.
It needs to happen. I will always love “Tig’s Vagina.”
Rihanna released a remix for her song “S&M” and it has Britney Spears on the very sexy song. Obviously the only thing I care about is if there will be a video with the two women. Rihanna said she’s not sure, but she hopes so. “I want to spank Britney,” she told radio station Z100. Glad she and I are on the same page.
Temim Fruchter of The Shondes is featured over at Modern Drummer. She writes about being a self-taught musician and the other drummers she’s inspired by, including Brian Viglione of Dresden Dolls, Janet Weiss, Amy Farina and Kim Thompson.
If you’re an anime fan, you might want to check out Maria Holic Alive!. A review of the first episode describes its plot as such:
Return to the world of the lusty lesbian high school student who wants her woman. But gets stuck with a cross dressing man.
Apparently this is on The Anime Network. If you do find it, let me know if this is an accurate description because that sounds kind of bizarre.
