Last night in New York, the annual Met Ball went down with the theme of “Punk: Chaos to Couture” and some of the best looks came from queer women. (Of course!)
The New Yorker has two moms on the cover of this week’s issue. Gotta love it.
Kirsten Vangsness reportedly turned down an offer for another season of Criminal Minds because her male co-stars are getting paid more than she and her female castmates. Of course there’s room for negotiation, but I can’t imagine that show without Garcia. Give her what she’s worth!
Laurel Holloman posed in front of one of her pieces at the opening of her exhibition “All The World Inside” last week.
Brittney Griner wrote a piece for The New York Times on why she came out and how happy she is for gay NBA player Jason Collins. An excerpt:
That’s why I never felt the need to publicly announce I was “out.” People have asked me if I’m at all bothered that my “announcement” after the W.N.B.A. draft last month didn’t receive as much attention as Jason’s. Frankly, it didn’t matter at all to me. I simply answered a question honestly and am just happy to tell my truth and to be in a position to encourage others to do the same. It’s all about living an honest life and being comfortable in your own skin. It strengthens me to know that Jason and I (along with so many other out pioneers and allies) are united in a mission to inspire others who may be struggling. I want everyone to feel at peace and O.K. with being who he or she is.
While we’re talking sports, ESPN Films will be airing Abby Head On, a documentary about USWNT player Abby Wambach, on May 15 and Megan Rapinoe, Lori Lindsey and Pia Sundhage make appearances.
Michelle Chamuel did Cyndi Lauper‘s “True Colors” on The Voice last night. Hopefully it’ll be good enough to keep her around.
