Here’s the story of how Tig Notaro became part of John Legend‘s new music video for “You & I,” as told by director Mishka Kornai.
“I really wanted there to be a prominent lesbian figure who could show off a different side of the spectrum. Our casting director suggested Tig to me, and she was really excited about the project. John Legend is such a big pop artist, and Tig is not the Hollywood look–she’s not the person you expect to be in this video.”
Jodie Foster talked with Deadline about her Emmy nomination for directing an episode of Orange is the New Black.
“As a director, dramedy is what I do. It’s not who I am as an actor. The genre requires a very specific skill in terms of recognizing what is quirky and perverse, and to be moved by it. The female prisoners on Orange Is The New Black have a very spiritual journey that’s so complex. They’re all soul-searching and they change through each other.”
Speaking of Orange, Natasha Lyonne and Yael Stone chatted with Collider about Season 2. Here they are talking about how their characters’ relationship has changed since we first met them having sex in Season 1.
STONE: I feel like we’ve gone on a really big journey for Season 2. There’s been less emphasis on physical interaction, and it’s been taken more towards connection. I think that they’ve had some really big challenges that they’ve weathered through this time, and they come back together at the end saying, “I fucking need you! You’re not just a plaything. You’re not just a distraction. I need help, and you’re the person I’m coming to.” I think that’s a very beautiful thing.
LYONNE: We came to an interesting conclusion earlier today, with this idea that Nicky is really saying to Lorna, “This is your reality now. You’re in this prison. Spend time with me here. This is your life. Enough of your fantasy life and this business of Christopher. This is your reality now, and I’m the one that’s here for you.” The road that they’ve had to task has been so gonzo and so obsessive and compulsive, between the stalking and the orgasm competition. But, that it led them back to each other and a deeper intimacy is a nice thing.

“Some media outlet called for a comment and they wanted to know whether I was with Drew [Barrymore]. Literally, I said, ‘That makes me want to vomit in my mouth.’ That’s like saying I’m having sex with my sister. Are you crazy? I wouldn’t even ménage with her!”
Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.
Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) shares a Sapphic moment in her new Baby Vamp vlog. We’ll take it!
In something completely mindboggling, former Oprah Show guest Christine gave an update on her life after coming out on national TV as a lesbian in 2006. Her new partner, Jacki, which Oprah’s Where Are They Now refer to as a “lady,” transitioned from a woman to a man to be able to marry Christine before it was legal in California. I honestly can say I’ve never heard transitioning described as a “loophole” before.
i09 thinks we deserve more bisexual characters on television.
