Morning Brew – Thursday, June 2: Jane Lynch takes over News Corp, The Runaways as superheroines

Morning!

Civil unions became legal in my home state of Illinois yesterday, and I happened across this hot model in an article from Time Out Chicago about finding a good suit for your big day.

Wait — that’s my wife! And the piece has some good tips on getting one of your own (a suit, not a wife).

Jessie J looks beautiful without makeup. Agree?

OK, Rooney Mara looks hot in this new poster, but I am not feeling the submissive pose. And why does she have to be topless?

DC Comics gave band The Runaways the comic book treatment, just for fun, and put Joan Jett and co. in superheroine wear. It looks so good on them. I can totally see Joan doing Wonder Woman.

An anonymous celebrity gossiper in the UK has been Tweeting tidbits that have people wondering if there’s any truth to them. Among them: “Annie Lennox “had a lesbian affair while she was married to her second husband.” Last we heard from Annie, she said she wasn’t a lesbian but she wished she were. So maybe she did give it a try — who knows?

Australia’s out finance minister Penny Wong is not interested in your sexism, sir. While in a heated debate, Tasmanian Senator David Bushby “meowed” at her and she did not appreciate it.

Actually it sounds like more of a “reeearr!” to me.

Fade In is a web documentary about homeless LGBT youth in New York. They’ve released an initial trailer where you meet some of the teens involved.

Jane Lynch appeared at the News Corp D9 tech conference yesterday and was, well, hilarious and hot in a sharp suit and tie.

If she doesn’t host the Emmys, I will cry. CRY! And I know The Powers That Be hate to see me cry. (Not really. They probably love it.)

AE reader Gemma sent us this tip about a web series called My Drunk Kitchen. The first episode is called “Butter Yo S–t,” so you can imagine it’s probably not super similar to Rachael Ray — it’s obviously much better. Let me know if you learn anything!
