Morning Brew: Thursday, Jan. 28

Morning, all!

American Idol is more scandalous than ever this year, and Ellen DeGeneres hasn’t even shown up on on our screens yet. Apparently, Ellen isn’t talking to Simon Cowell and called him a prima donna. A “source” told RadarOnline, “It seems as if Ellen has decided to try to take control since Simon is on his way out and that’s created problems.” Ellen a troublemaker? I don’t believe it. Guess I’m getting suckered into watching this season, come February 8.

Snagfilms.com offers free movies to watch online, including 14 LGBT-themed, like the gay Jewish documentary Trembling Before G-d and The Times of Harvey Milk. Also, two documentaries about Aileen Wuornos, which is thankfully not listed under lesbian. Do not want — unless Charlize Theron is involved!

The 2003 Britney/Madonna kiss at the MTV Music Awards has topped a poll of “The Best Kisses of the Decade.” Also in the top five, Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz for their kiss in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Yep, no real lesbians allowed in this poll, people.

Anyone But Me fans, you’ll have to wait for a new episode until Feb. 23. But to tide your addiction to lesbian web series over, head over to a EmmaStahl.tv to check out the teaser for the new show.

In case you were tantalized by The National Enquirer‘s current cover story, “Oprah’s Big Gay Lie Exposed,” save your money: TheHollywoodGossip.com says that it is a false report and no lie is exposed. However, they deliver this new piece of information: “Oprah has long shrugged off the persistent story that she and Gayle are lovers, and that Stedman was just a cover for their secret relationship.” Oh, you already heard that one?

Creators of The Lovers and Friends Show are looking to cast for a new web series in the South Florida/Atlanta area. They’re looking for Creole-speaking lesbians of all kinds, so check out the casting call if you’re all of the above.

If you want to talk about the Prop. 8 proceedings with some people who really know what’s going on, join in an online discussion with Evan Wolfson from Freedom to Marry and Rick Jacobs from Courage Campaign on 365gay.com at 2 p.m. EST today.

Maybe you’d rather talk with Kimberly Peirce about your great movie idea. The lesbian director will be part of a summer series, “The Filmmaker’s Intensive: The Art & Science of Telling Stories” in St. Petersburg, Florida. Need I remind you she’s made some amazing films, like Boys Don’t Cry and Stop-Loss? Learn from the best! OK, yeah, I’m a little bit hot for teacher.

See you on Friday!
