Morning Brew – Thursday, April 7: Chely Wright and Lauren Blitzer want babies, Ruby Rose portrait up for prestigious art award

Morning!

So you know how we told you Chely Wright and Lauren Blitzer are getting hitched? Well they also have some babymaking in their future! Chely told E!:

We want a family. The benefit of being out is I get to have everything that everyone else has. I do want a family and I do want traditional things. I just had no idea it would happen so quickly. I feel like it was a blessing from God.

Get it, girl!

Jillian Michaels may be leaving The Biggest Loser, but that doesn’t mean she’ll be off our TVs for good. She’s mentioned a talk show as a possibility for the near future. Would you watch?

RuPaul thinks Annette Bening was robbed at the Oscars. He compared her losing out to Natalie Portman to RuPaul’s Drag Race never winning an Emmy nomination, saying:

As you well know, it’s about politics, I understood that! Actually, at breakfast this morning, I was talking about how Annette Bening must be so angry right now. She was f—ing robbed! Oh, she knows, she understands it. But at some point, you have to say to yourself, “F–k these bitches!” It’s ridiculous.

I would like to adopt RuPaul’s way of thinking. If I don’t win an Oscar and an Emmy in life, I will just say “F–k these bitches” and sashay down the street singing “You Better Work.”

Artist Dave Ross has created this portrait of Ruby Rose, which is nominated for Australia’s Bald Archies Prize. Why did he choose to make art of of Ruby? The artist said:

I have been intrigued with Ruby’s career because she is a most headstrong and feisty person. She is god-daughter of the great Australian champion boxer, Lionel Rose, and the great-granddaughter of Alec Campbell, the last surviving Battle of Gallipoli soldier. It is no surprise she is tough and courageous.

We’ll find out if he wins April 19.

Stonewall UK took a poll of the the most empowering songs for gays and Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” won the top slot. It was written by Linda Perry so that’s a bonus. “Born This Way” took third, the Gossip’s “Standing in the Way of Control” was fourth and Katy Perry’s “Firework” was fifth. What was second? A song I have never heard by the band Boyzone.

AlterNet is running their own poll, and it’s of the most influential progressive media figure. Rachel Maddow is in the lead! Boyzone does not appear to be in the running.

Want more of DeJuaii Pace, the gospel singer who came out at 45 and is battling her demons on OWN’s Addicted to Food? She spoke with TheRoot about her life before realizing she was a lesbian.

When I joined my church about 15 years [ago], because I wanted to be up front with my pastor, I told her that the attraction was there but I was denying that I was attracted to that [gay] lifestyle. I acknowledged it to myself in 2006 when I really took a deep evaluation of my life.

I was not married, was not dating and had not dated. And I was like, why is it so? And I just took a deep look at myself and realized that I’ve not been attracted to men ever and had just been friendly with them. At the end of the evaluation, I told myself that I had to acknowledge it.

I didn’t tell anyone [in my family] I was a lesbian until December 2009, when I felt sick and tired of my life and wasn’t happy. And I told one of my friends. I said, “Listen, I need you to help me to come out, because If I’m going to be happy, I’ve got to face this thing.” About 98 percent of my friends are in “the lifestyle,” and they knew I was struggling with it.

DeJuaii, didn’t you know that “late in life lesbians” are all the rage now? Call up Meredith Baxter and take that percentage up another notch!

In the meantime, BET is using DeJuaii’s situation to ask if it’s “wrong” to think about being gay or only if you act on it. So, you know, feel free to comment all over that post.

These new stills from House have emerged and I have created my own storyline for them. It starts with “Hi, how are you?” and ends with “We can’t keep meeting like this. The hospital is not the ideal place for us to make love – at least not while on the clock.”

Daniela Sea and her old band Gr’ups are doing a reunion tour. Unfortunately, all the dates are in California which isn’t so much a “tour” as a roadtrip. Check out the pic of Daniela and the band’s singer from 1993.

Time Magazine thinks we should check the LESBIAN or BI box at the doctor’s office. Actually, they think those boxes should exist, first. They quote a report from the Institute of Medicine:

The IOM finds that to advance understanding of the health needs of all LGBT individuals, researchers need more data about the demographics of these populations, improved methods for collecting and analyzing data, and an increased participation of sexual and gender minorities in research.

The more you know, right?

Nicol Paone is distraught over her husband’s new mistress in the FunnyOrDie video The Zombie Whisperer:
