“Thursday, Thursday, it’s just one day before Friday.” That’s my new hit single I am going to record for YouTube. I am giving you a special preview! Now imagine me in a car, with a bunch of dykes who think Thursday is the new Friday, based on the fact that’s when our local “lesbian nights” happen at the bars.
Anna Paquin thinks French women are beautiful. She also says some other things in this video, but mostly looks amazing and has a hot Kiwi accent.
I think my favorite part of this article from The Harvard Crimson on a lesbian event they held recently is this sentence:
“Laughter and Lezzing Out,” GirlSpot co-chair Elizabeth C. Elrod ’11 said that someone doesn’t need to be a lesbian to “lez out.”
Betty White sure brought that term into social consciousness, didn’t she? What a trend setter!
Totally queer band CSS will release their new album, La Liberación on August 29. Their US tour kicks off tomorrow and, I’m telling you, they are one of the most fun bands to see live. I dare you to not dance/crush one of the women. (Dibs on Louiza!)
Tina Fey is not only hilarious and smart and talented and hot, she is also pretty hip. She used the term “Le Tigre mustache” in an interview with NPR’s Fresh Air. Listen to the entire thing and then join me in reading Bossypants this weekend, if you haven’t already.
We told you about that Marie Claire Glee gal spread yesterday, and we have an update on the interviews inside. Unfortunately, it is not good news for those who ship Rachel and Quinn. Dianna Agron tells the mag:
Everybody is convinced that Lea and I are in a relationship. There are forums with photos of us hugging.
I am sure the lesbians who created these forums (such as http://sealedwithakick.tumblr.com/) are now squeeing that Lea and Dianna are aware of their sites and ignoring the fact that Dianna is pretty much saying they aren’t dating. They’re just hugging a lot.
In her column yesterday, Hook Up writer Anna Pulley mentioned her attraction to women who are obsessed with Amanda Palmer. Amanda Palmer then Tweeted:
Since Anna is on the West Coast, I’m sure she’s still asleep and not able to see this awesomeness yet, but I am already imagining them out taking whiskey shots together at some dive bar where they do impromptu haiku cabaret performances.
Amanda and her hubby Neil Gaiman are on the list of The Village Voice‘s Ten Best Musician/Comic Artist Friendships, and so is Alison Bechdel and her musician brother, John. The Voice writes:
She’s a hero to a generation of riot grrrls and queer artists, but her closest relationship with a musician is a world away from the likes of Bikini Kill. Her brother John Bechdel, who she writes about and thanks in Home, could best be described as a journeyman industrial musician that has played keyboards for Prong, Killing Joke, Fear Factory and many others. He might not be as well-known as his sister, but he played on the Grammy nominated (“Best Metal Performance”) Ministry song “Señor Peligro”–and getting to play “Stigmata” and “Burning Inside” every night in Ministry is unassailably awesome.
I didn’t know that about her bro. I should probably know that if I plan on marrying her and living inside her Vermont cabin.
Do you ever sit around wondering “Whatever happened to that woman that played Sharon Stone‘s lesbian lover in Basic Instinct?” Wonder no more! Leilani Sarelle is going to star in a new B-movie horror film called Night Claws. DreadCentral.com reports it’s a “sasquatchploitation” film. You want to see it already, don’t you?
Oops, how did that get in there? Is there a Tumblr dedicated to all of Dianna’s hugging? Hugaholic.
