Morning Brew – Thurs. Oct. 4: Portia covers “EW,” Tegan and Sara on “Conan”

Good morning! Lot’s of good stuff for you today, so let’s get into it.

Portia de Rossi is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly with her Arrested Development castmates. Inside she talks about the first time they reunited for the filming of the new season.

We all walked onto the set and we just sat around and stared at each other, and it was surreal. Everybody looked exactly the same and they acted exactly the same, both in character and in between takes. Body language was the same, the same old jokes, the same old eye rolls. It was really amazing.

If you want to be a part of that fun, Netflix is looking for six superfans to have walk-on roles. Enter at YoureGonnaGetSomeWalkOns.com.

Tegan and Sara performed their single “Closer” on Conan last night. It was rad, per usual.

Have you ever wanted Naya Rivera to sing a Taylor Swift song? Your wish has been granted.

Speaking of Naya, she interviews Darren Criss and vice versa in this video.

And yesterday on The Talk, Gloria Estefan said she’d love to go back on Glee to have a talk with Santana’s mom!

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Pink is still not gay. In an interview with The Advocate, she says:

I loved my little girlfriends and we kissed and we had a great time and we held hands. When I first moved to Los Angeles, I was an honorary lesbian of Los Angeles. I wasn’t gay, but all my girlfriends were. So no, it wasn’t a big deal for me, but when [a tabloid] comes out and says, I just said I was bisexual, it’s like what? That wasn’t my truth, and I like truth. I like absolute truth.

We’ll always have the music video for “Sober.”

Out drummer Patty Schemel was interviewed by a dog. It’s as amazing as it sounds! An excerpt:

Q: I love that you are an open lesbian, and you used to have a dog walking company. You don’t at all have to answer this, but did the end of that business have anything to do with pressure from your Sapphic sisters to pursue a line of work that was decidedly more feline and less k-9 or is that whole thing a stereotype? My follow up question to this topic is: Do you know Ellen?

Patty: I see the connection that you are making and but the ending of my dog company happened because of my baby. An actual human baby. I am not a cat person in any way. I have met Ellen and I don’t know if she is a cat person. Cats are fine they are just not my thing. But if you are talking Pussy thats a whole other story.

If you haven’t seen her documentary Hit so Hard, then I don’t want to know you. Just kidding! But you should see it.

And while we’re on the subject of crazy good musicians, Joan Jett is nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and needs your vote.
