The Daily Beast has a great post on What Classic Sitcoms Taught Us About Gay Rights. I’d add Friends to the list. It’s a classic by now.
Shonda Rhimes talked with The New York Post about the feedback she gets on writing gay characters like Callie and Arizona. I like how she said people had more interest in what kind of wedding dress Callie would be wearing than anything else she’d be doing on the big night.
The Good Wife has been renewed for another season. Yay!
Chicago Fire may be getting a spinoff series about cops. Why can’t they just bring back Jennifer Beals for Chicago Code?
Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore said he doesn’t want to have a romance with out co-star Kirsten Vangsness on screen.
Nothing against Kirsten; I love Kirsten. It would take the magic away. Once you consummate the relationship, once we start playing kissy-face, laying in bed on purpose — where do you go from there? I just think the big-brother/little-sister, that kind of love affair, with the one-liners and the pet names … it’s a lot more interesting that the big, tough guy has a weak spot for the nerdy little computer tech. I’ve had two girlfriends in eight years, and they lasted about two-and-a-half episodes. It’s OK for Penelope Garcia to get goofy Kevin as a boyfriend, but I’m not allowed to get a girlfriend, because then I’m cheating on Garcia.
How about Garcia gets a girlfriend? OK thanks!
Sarah and Kristen Ellis Henderson are on the cover of the new Time magazine. The couple published the book Times Two in 2010 about their struggles to become parents, but now they have two happy and healthy children and are looking gorgeous for a cover story about how gay marriage has already won. Kristen is also a member of the band Antigone Rising.
Inside the magazine there are even more photos of gay and lesbian couples in love.
Out rapper Angel Haze is the only female MC included in XXL‘s freshman class of up and coming rappers.
Milwaukee’s indoor soccer league has a new lesbian president and CEO, Sue Black. Congrats Sue!
What’s your favorite Lily Tomlin character? I’m partial to her as Vivian Jaffe in I Heart Huckabees.
Frenchie Davis said she watches Paris is Burning “almost every day.” Yes girl!
