Morning Brew – Thurs. August 30: “Freeheld” finally gets financed, Marlene King on the “PLL” finale

Good morning!

Pretty Little Liars boss Marlene King answers some of your questions over at TVGuide, including why Paige didn’t console Emily at the end of the mid-season finale.

Paige knows these girls are four best friends and the show is really about the friendship and their unconditional bond. So, Paige made the sacrifice in that moment. She saw Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Hanna (Ashley Benson) really needed each other, so her doing the body block and getting the police’s attention was her way of saying, “I get it, I understand,” And Spencer’s look in subtext was, “We’re so sorry.”

Oh Paige, why you gotta be so good?

Apparently Australia’s The Voice winner Karise Eden has put lesbian rumors to rest by saying she has a boyfriend. So does Kelly Clarkson. That’s all I’m saying.

If you love the idea of lesbian athletes, you’ll really enjoy Girls Who Score. Lesbian erotica about sporty women? It exists!

Time for some amazing news! The feature film adaptation of Freeheld is finally getting financed, which means Ellen Page will be playing a lesbian on the big screen in the next year. If you haven’t seen the original documentary, you have some time. It’s a tearjerker.

Here’s are a few clips from tonight’s episode of The Real L Word. In the first, Lauren tells Sara and Whitney she’s flying to New York to see Kiyomi.

And in this one, Hunter Valentine have a business meeting.

Check out this new track from Meshell Ndegeocello called “Young, Gifted and Black.” It’s from her new album Pour une âme souveraine, which releases October 9.
