Morning Brew – Thurs. April 25: Eden Riegel has a lesbian sister, your first look at Patty Duke on “Glee”

Good morning!

Out actress Jasika Nicole guest stars on Scandal tonight and it looks like she’s someone’s mother.

Eden Riegel’s sister is a lesbian. I didn’t know! She said her sis doesn’t inform her All My Children character Bianca, though:

She doesn’t advise me at all. She totally gave me permission to make the role my own.

I’d like her to make a cameo at a lesbian bar scene.

Voyeurs, want to check out Naya Rivera’s home? She’s selling this Beverly Hills bungalow to move to Los Feliz, where all the cool kids are.

Baz Luhrmann has always known how to put together a soundtrack. I mean, Romeo & Juliet, Moulin Rouge – those were full of the best music from films or otherwise. He’s doing it again with The Great Gatsby, which includes this new song from the xx.

I don’t speak french (regrettably) so I’m not sure what is happening here, but I’m pretty sure out actor/playwright Gina Young is on a date with Joyce Jonathan.

Jillian Michaels spoke with Out and was asked how “the gays” are doing with fitness:

When I look at the gay community, especially my boys, I think they get it right! My friends take fabulous care of themselves. I think that gay men are winning. I’m not big on statistics in subcultures, but I have been told the lesbian community has a higher rate of obesity. If that is the case, I think it’s a matter of information and education.

She also talked about how she handles people like “the Bryan Fischer’s of the world” who “suggest that straight people should kidnap children from gay couples”:

I don’t believe in flying off the handle. It’s not to say I don’t believe in anger or take inequality seriously or the fact that gays are literally second-class citizens. But, I appreciate there is a way to go about getting equality. In my opinion, you show those who are threatened by you there is nothing they need to be afraid of. That’s how you’ll get equality.

Julianna Margulies has broken my heart by saying she thinks the Kalinda/Alicia friendship is over for good. She told TVLine:

I think that’s kind of played out because of circumstance. I doubt she’ll be able to trust that friendship fully. I think Kalinda’s character seems to have gone in a different direction. What keeps the show interesting and sort of satisfying is to see other people come into [Alicia]’s life to open her up. She needs female friendship, but she needs to start from scratch. She can’t be pouring her heart out to someone who once slept with her husband… It’s just not going to happen. It doesn’t seem realistic.

Obviously Julianna hasn’t heard that in Magical TV Land, shit doesn’t have to be realistic.

ABC News interviewed Wild Flag’s Mary Timony and Rebecca Cole about the genesis of the band. Thank god they say they are writing new songs.

Evan Rachel Wood spoke with The Daily Beast about her new film, A Case of You, and being out:

I’m out [as a] bisexual, so I get questions and curiosity from people who don’t genuinely know and want to ask questions. People will start out not believing it and by the end of it you find that you’ve reached some kind of understanding with people-some middle ground. And then other people start talking, other people tell their stories. Even people that come out so against it, it’s very interesting for me to hear the other side.

I know you are dying to see it, and here it is: Patty Duke as a lesbian jeweler on Glee.

Oh, man, that Michelle Rodriguez. She told Cosmopolitan for Latinas she’s “attracted to manly men.”

I can’t do metrosexuals who get their nails done more than me. Which is why, living in LA for eight years, you can’t blame me for not having a partner.

She also said she’s thinking of quitting acting to write movies instead. Probably ones about all kinds of hot manly men.

If you enjoyed the first episode of Entangled With You, then you’ll like this behind-the-scenes interview with stars Loren Lillian and Jessica Meza.
