Morning Brew – Tegan and Sara nominated for four Junos

Happy Hump Day!

Canadian lesbian film Vic + Flo Saw a Bear opens in the States this Friday. The Village Voice recommends it to New Yorkers.

Outsports has a great piece with out Columbia University soccer player Jourdan Sayers. She’s the goalie!

An Australian play called Pinball follows “a lesbian couple trying to gain custody of a son” in the 1970s. It opens Feb. 11, so go see it if you can.

Congrats to Tegan and Sara on their Juno nominations. They’re up for Single of the Year, Group of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Pop Album of the Year. The Junos are like the Grammys of Canada, so it’s pretty rad for them.

Brandi Carlile covers “The Chain” on a new compilation out this week. You can buy Sweetheart online, or just buy her track.

Angel Haze told Out she is very influenced by Tracy Chapman. She also talked about her pansexuality:

“Sexuality is like having a favorite color. It doesn’t rule you, you know? And I should be able to do whatever and whoever I want at any given time. And then I realized I was attracted to transgender people and people who classify themselves as ‘other.’ It didn’t change anything about how I looked at life. There was no brand-new, kaleidoscopic view of everything: ‘Holy fuck! I like a transgender person. God is real.’ No. It was one part of me that just evolved.”

Angel Haze 'Dirty Gold!' Album Launch Party

If you haven’t listened to Dirty Gold yet, do yourself a favor and give it a go. So good.

Several female artists contributed to Qu33R, a new collection of queer comics. I need this, like, yesterday.

Brooklyn-based drag king Goldie Peacock talked with The Huffington Post about teaching “drag education” workshops.

I love love love Ingrid Michaelson‘s new song and video “Girls Chase Boys.” I know you will, too, especially if you like Robert Palmer‘s iconic video for “Addicted to Love.”

If you have yet to see Evan Rachel Wood‘s film A Case of You, IndieWire has the first five minutes for you.

On tonight’s episode of the TBS comedy Men at Work, Emmanuelle Chiriqui plays a bisexual woman dating one of the major male characters, and he gets jealous of her lesbian ex.
