Morning Brew – Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon together for “Elle”

Happy Friday!

A dude wonders why Austin, Texas doesn’t have more lesbian bars. R.I.P. Sisters Edge II!

A comedian performing at the Gaelic Athletic Association’s end-of-the-year awards received silence and a few walk-outs when he made a joke about lesbians that seemed to be in poor taste. (No one seems to know exactly what he said, only that it was not funny and insulted many gay women in the room.) Boo to you, Oliver Callan.

Crystal Bowersox talked about the support she’s received since coming out as bisexual, and why she decided to talk about it publicly.

“I feel really confident this year and that’s a part of who I am and there’s no sense in keeping it to yourself. I think the more people who come out who are in the public eye, the better chance some high school student has to love and accept themselves and feel confident enough to be open. Secrets are no fun.”

Dana Piccoli sent me this tip, and I think you’ll be into it. The Chanticleer is about “Edie Chaucer, who inherits a bar (The Chanticleer) and returns home to find it in disrepair and debauchery. She vows to make the place her own. But when she hires a new bartender, a woman who has Communist ties and prefers to dress in men’s clothing, she learns firsthand the impact of the Red Scare and anti-gay witch hunts of mid-century America.”

Shakira and Rihanna look very cozy in their new single cover. I fully support all these divas duetting lately. (Thanks Liz!)

35th Kennedy Center Honors

Brittney Griner will be part of the CNN International documentary Journey of the Gay Athlete, airing this Saturday in the UK.

Billie Jean King went on The Today Show and talked about not letting the fact she’s gay overshadow the actual sports in Sochi.

Looking for Lost Girl spoilers, stills, etc? I got you.

Wanda Sykes went on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon last night where she talked about her kids and New Orleans Saints superstitions.

Speaking of the Big Easy, Girl Code‘s Quinn Marcus is having a one-woman show in NOLA soon and answered some questions about the performance in this YouTube video.
