Fiona Shaw of Harry Potter fame will be joining True Blood as “Marnie, a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch.”
For those keeping score, Fiona has been a rumored player for our team, allegedly dating Saffron Burrows during their production of a Jeanette Winterson play in the UK in 2005. She’s also appeared on the Pink List several times, so apparently you Brits know more than we do.
Danielle Staub appeared on the HDNET show Naughty But Nice with Rob and told the host she is dating a woman and a man. And they know each other, but “they aren’t real happy about each other.”
New Zealand TV personality Alison Mau has come out as bisexual. She introduced her girlfriend, dance instructor Karleen Edmonds, “to a crowd at the Queen of the Whole Universe drag pageant in Auckland on Saturday night.” She told Gaynz.com, “I have fallen in love with a wonderful woman and it was just so unexpected.” Eventually we’ll all grow up learning that we can expect to fall for a woman or a man. Until then, it’s always “surprise!!!!”
How do you feel about these gay anthems that have been coming out lately? I’m talking Pink’s “Raise Your Glass,” Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R”? The New York Times wrote a piece on the new trend, and the news I’m most excited about is Elton John saying his upcoming duet with Lady Gaga “will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ as the gay anthem.” It’s only taken 40 years or so!
Nigerian singer Ego told Kleiglight she knows exactly why the lesbian rumors started about her.
I’m a very loving person and I don’t believe I have any enemy in the industry but what baffles me most is the way people go about pestering rumour that I’m a lesbian. It all started at an actress’ birthday where I took a certain picture with her before I know it, the picture is everywhere and we were being labeled as lesbians and all sort of name. For God sake, I’m not a lesbian, I do only men.
I would love for the photo to be of her and this actress making out at a Melissa Etheridge concert while wearing a “I’m not a lesbian but my girlfriend is” T-shirt. In realiyt, I’m sure they were just posing together seductively for the
male gaze camera.
I know Halloween is over, but you can still indulge in some good (and bad) horror films. Brain Dead is now out on DVD, starring Michelle Tomlinson and Sarah Grant Brendecke as a lesbian couple, who both happen to be highly intelligent scientists. Their smarts help them out in situations dealing with zombies and other kinds of murderous freaks.
South African model/TV personality Janie du Plessis has worked with a biographer to pen ‘n Keuse vir die Lewe, a book about her life. In it, she addresses the rumors about her relationship with South African golfer Sally Little:
The friendship got tongues wagging. Would Janie be in a lesbian relationship? … Yes, there were such insinuations and open questions.
“Sally was the best, best friendship I’ve known. She lived with us and our house all of a sudden became another place. The dog stopped peeing on the mat. We laughed and ate and the boys found a true friend in her. And I know you can’t determine who you’re going to love. That happens to people.”
They’re no longer together, but this is the first time Janie has made a statement on their relationship.
Don’t forget that Sara Rue makes her debut as Brenda, the lesbian softball player on tonight’s Rules of Engagement. (CBS 8:30 p.m.)
